Many walking tracks, roads and fire trails within Blue Mountains National Park remain closed following sustained wet weather causing subsidence hazards, major landslides or infrastructure upgrades.
The following areas are closed:
Katoomba and Leura
- Honeymoon Bridge is closed due to rockfall risk.
- Honeymoon lookout is closed from Thursday 19 January 2023 due to upgrade works.
- Federal Pass between Leura Cascades and Dardanelles Pass junction below the Three Sisters is closed due to track maintenance.
- Fern Bower, Leura Forest and Dardanelles Pass tracks are closed due to track maintenance from Wednesday 1 February to Friday 3 February;
- Pool of Siloam walking track is closed Wednesday 1 to Friday 3 February for a helicopter operation.
- Gordon Falls walking track and lookout and Golf Links lookout are closed Wednesday 1 to Friday 3 February for a helicopter operation.
- Lone Lyrebird track is closed between Gordon Road and the War Memorial, due to subsidence. Detour is in place.
- Lyrebird Dell walking track is closed due to track maintenance.
- Prince Henry Cliff walk is closed between Cliff View lookout and Echo Point from Monday 6 February for upgrade works.
- Prince Henry Cliff Walk between Tallawalla Lookout and Solitary Restaurant closed Wednesday 1 February to Friday 2 February

- Part of Lindeman Pass is closed due to a major landslide below Gladstone lookout.
Wentworth Falls
- Valley of the Waters track is closed below Sylvia Falls. There is no access to Roberts Pass, Vera Falls, Hippocrene Falls or Wentworth Falls from Valley of the Waters.
- Queen Victoria and Empress lookouts are closed from Monday 30 January for upgrades.
- Charles Darwin walk is closed where it traverses council-managed land due to upgrades. Visit the Blue Mountains City Council website for information.

- Wentworth Pass is closed due to landslide.
- Ingar Road is closed where it traverses private property at the western end. Ingar campers must walk in via Andersons or Bedford Roads.
- The track connecting the Rocket Point Loop to Chester and Little Switzerland Trails will be closed from 0800 Wed 8-2-2023 to 17-2-2023 due to track works.
Blackheath, Mount Victoria and Bells Line of Road
- Victoria Falls walking track and day use area will be closed on Friday 0th February 2023 to allow for helicopter operations.
- Govetts Leap lookout and picnic area are closed for major upgrade work (opening March 2023).
- Govetts Creek access routes are closed including Horse track, Govetts Leap Descent and Rodriguez Pass (Bridal Veil Falls) due to landslides.
- Pulpit walking track is open to Cripps lookout. Track remains closed to Pulpit Rock lookout (Govetts Leap to Cripps lookout is open). Visit the Blue Mountains City Council website for further information.
- Pulpit Rock Track and Popes Glen track to Boyds Beach from Govettts Leap will be closed on Friday 10th February 2023 to allow for helicopter operations.

- Lawson Ridge Fire Trail is closed to all vehicles including pedestrians from Monday 30th January until Friday10th February 2023 to allow for road repairs.

The eastern section of Palm Jungle loop track between Burning Palms and Werrong lookout, is closed for 12 months, from Monday 16 January 2023 to Wednesday 31 January 2024.
This closure is due to track upgrade works.
You can still walk this section of The Coast track if you divert via Garawarra Farm and Burgh Ridge trail.

The Soil Conservation Service will be undertaking remediation works of erosion caused by wet weather events from Tuesday 31 January 2023 until Tuesday 7 February 2023.
Reids Flat picnic area and carpark will be closed during this period, but will re-open with reduced parking from Thursday 2 February 2023 until the completion of works.
The closure is to allow for heavy machinery movements and the delivery of materials.

Please be aware that the following publicly open roads and tracks in Parma Creek Nature Reserve and Jerrawangala National Park are in poor condition:

A 4WD vehicle is recommended and some roads may be impassable. Works will be undertaken to repair roads when resources and weather conditions allow.

The visitor precinct at Govetts Leap lookout in Blue Mountains National Park, Blackheath is closed for upgrades from Thursday 11 August 2022 to February 2023.
The carpark and lookout will be closed during construction.
Blue Mountains Heritage Centre and the toilets at Govetts Leap lookout will remain open.
Access to walking tracks will be provided to tracks that are open. Track closures are updated regularly. Check the NPWS alerts page for updates.
The works include improvements to the lookout and carpark, and construction of new accessible pathways in the area.

A reopening date for this road is not currently known, but is expected to be in mid to late 2023.

From Thursday 3 November 2022 to Monday 1 May 2023 NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting ongoing ground baiting program in the following areas:
- Abercrombie River National Park
- Kanangra-Boyd National Park
- Blue Mountains National Park (southern sector)
- Wollemi National Park (Wolgan Valley area)
- Jenolan Karst Conservation Area
- Turon National Park
- Marrangaroo National Park
The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.
The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.
Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Seasonal Cave Closure for Bats
Drum Cave (B13), Bungonia National Park, is closed from 1 November to 1 April to protect breeding and roosting populations of the threatened Large Bent-wing Bat (Miniopteris orianae oceanensis).
The bats have specific habitat requirements and any disturbance of the closed caves mentioned could cause the loss of large numbers of these animals. These animals are protected under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016.

A baiting program using ground baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes will be conducted between Thursday 21 October 2021 to Friday 1 September 2023 in the Kangaroo Valley, Budgong and Illaroo areas.
All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs.
Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. 1080 is lethal to cats and dogs. Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is conducting a continual and ongoing 1080 ground baiting program for the control of foxes from Wednesday 21 September 2022 to Monday 20 March 2023 to reduce the impacts on threatened species.
The operation will target foxes in the Carrington Falls, Budderoo Plateau, Knights Hill and Barren Grounds areas. Baits have been placed on NPWS estate, private property and Crown road reserves with permissions.
There are 1080 baiting signs at the entrance to baiting areas. Don’t touch baits or ejector devices. Some baits may be buried.
1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) is lethal to pets (including domestic dogs and cats) and working dogs. In the event of accidental poisoning, seek immediate veterinary assistance. Domestic pets, including dogs and cats, are not permitted in national parks or reserves. Restrain working and assistance dogs to ensure they don’t enter the baiting areas.

Due to ongoing wet weather, roads and tracks in Conjola National Park are in very poor condition. As a result, some roads may be impassable and a 4WD vehicle is recommended for open roads.

- Boundary road
Roadworks will commence in October 2022 and be ongoing into 2023. Expect short delays and road closures across the parks' road network due to these roadworks.
