Royal National Park has been impacted by heavy rain and flooding. It will take several days to assess the full extent of damage.
Road access into the park is open however, please check Live Traffic NSW for up-to-date information about road closures before travelling though Royal National Park.
Please note:
All areas open with the exception of :
- Wattamolla precinct is closed with flood damage to infrastructure and will remain closed until repairs are undertaken and assessed as safe
- Uloola Falls Campground is closed.
- All tracks and trails are open however, not all have inspected.

Following heavy rain the pedestrian access to Collins Beach from Stuart Street Manly has been damaged and a sandstone wall has partially collapsed posing a public safety hazard.

- Passing vessels are asked to slow and minimise wash impacts to the Northern side of the Fort between the hours of 5pm and 7am.

Closed areas: The Coast track partial closure
Walking the full length of The Coast track from Otford to Bundeena or Bundeena to Otford is not currently possible. This is due to several track closures along its length. These closures are necessary due to erosion and rockfall risk, and to allow ongoing track upgrade works.
Please note the following closures:
- Palm Jungle Loop track between Burning Palms and Werrong lookout is closed from Tuesday 16 January to Sunday 30 June 2024 for track upgrades.
- The Garie to Little Garie section of The Coast track is closed due to hazardous rockfalls and erosion.
- North Era campground is closed until further notice
- Garie Road, Garie Beach and the Garie precinct is closed until further notice. This is due to damage and subsidence to the road surface. Walkers approaching from the north (e.g. from Wattamolla or Bundeena) should exit the track via Curra Moors track.
Bushwalker access is available for the following sections of The Coast track:
- South bound access - Bundeena to Curra Moors track via Wattamolla and return only. No access to Garie Beach.
- North bound access - Available via North Era and return only. Access is via Garawarra Farm Ridge trail and Burgh Ridge track during track upgrades.
- Figure 8 Pools access - Available via Garawarra Ridge trail and Burgh Ridge track via Garawarra Farm only.

Closed areas: Areas of the Illawarra Escarpment SCA closed for Ground Shooting Operations
Areas of the Illawarra Escarpment State Conservation Area are closed between 6:00pm Monday 26th February and 09:00am Friday 21st June, 2024 for a pest animal ground shooting operation. These areas may include:
- Rhododendron Gardens
- Maddens Plains
- Kembla Ridge Track
- Kembla Ring Track
- Staffords Management Trail
- O'Briens Management Trail
- Mt Keira Girl Guides
- Mt Keira Scouts
This program will target deer. It aims to reduce the significant impact they have on native plants and animals including threatened species.
Other pest animals, including pigs, goats, foxes and feral cats will be targeted if observed during the operation.
This operation will involve night time ground shooting only. The park closure is between 6pm - 9am.
Ground Shooting will not take place during school holidays or on weekends or public holidays.
Park closure warning signs will be placed at entrances to the shooting area. Do not enter the closed area during shooting periods.

The eastern section of Malabar Headland National Park will be closed on the following dates/times due to ANZAC Rifle Range operations:
- Each Saturday, 8am to 5pm.
- The 1st, 3rd and 5th Sunday of the month, 8am to 5pm.
- ANZAC Rifle Range Special events:
- Anzac Day - Thursday 25 April 2024 (11am - 5pm)
- Sydney Shoot - Friday 26 April 2024 (8am - 5pm)
- NSWRA Champions Weekend - Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 June 2024 (8am - 5pm both days)
- All Schools training and competition - Wednesday 17 to Friday 19 July 2024 (8am - 5pm)
Do not enter the eastern section of the national park (including Boora Point walking track) when:
- Red flags are flying above the range
- The 'rifle range in use' warning signs are displayed at the park entry (South Maroubra Beach and Fishermans Road carpark).
- Park entry gates are closed.
The western section of the national park (Western Escarpment walking track) remains open when the rifle range is in use.

Closed areas: Commemoration Flat amenities block closed
From March to June 2024, contractors will be demolishing and replacing the amenities block at Commemoration Flat and upgrading the associated services. During these construction works, the northern part of Commemoration Flat carpark and the amenities block will be fenced off and occupied, and work crews will be on site.
Toilets will remain available at the visitors centre and cricket pitch area. The surrounding picnic areas and barbecue facilities will continue to be accessible during construction.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a baiting program using manufactured baits, fresh baits and canid pest ejectors (CPEs) containing 1080 poison (sodium fluroacetate) for the control of foxes.
The program is continuous and ongoing between Thursday 1 February 2024 and Wednesday 31 July 2024 in the following areas of Sydney Harbour National Park:
- Chowder Bay
- Dobroyd Head
- Bradleys Head
- Georges Head
- Middle and North Head (North Head includes the adjoining land of Sydney Harbour Federation Trust, Australian Institute of Police Management and Quarantine Station).
Please don’t touch baits or ejector devices. All baiting locations are identifiable by signs.
Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
Fox baiting in these reserves is aimed at reducing their impact on threatened species.

Closed areas: Kurnell foreshore partial closure
Transport for NSW is constructing ferry wharves at Kurnell and La Perouse. Closures will be in place until late 2024. There will be no public access to the foreshore area between Prince Charles Parade and the wharf along Monument walking track. Alternative pedestrian pathways will be in place to allow public access into Kamay Botany Bay National Park.
