Closed areas: Kurnell exhibition and theatre areas closed

The exhibition area of Kamay Botany National Park Visitor Centre is closed to ensure COVID-19 safety is appropriately managed for visitors. Please check the website for updated information. 

You can still access Kurnell Visitor Centre for information, retail purchases and park pass sales. Signage is in place around the closed areas inside the building.

Closed areas: Road closed for upgrades

The road to Cape Solander and the whale watching platform will be closed from Monday 3 May to late July 2021. Learn more about the improvements being made at Cape Solander and find out about other top whale watching locations around Sydney.

Closed areas: Wattamolla lower loop carpark and picnic area closed

Improvements to the lower loop carpark and picnic area have commenced. These works are estimated to take approximately 6 months, and the carpark and picnic area will will reopen in October 2021.

Alternative access through Wattamolla for the Royal Coast track will be available and signposted.

Access to the beach, amenities building, upper carpark areas and Providential Point will remain open.

Due to the temporary closure of the lower loop carpark, large vehicles and buses over 8.8 metres cannot access Wattamolla.

A new section of Honeymoon track is being installed from the new amenities block to the start of the current Honeymoon track. The area of construction will be fenced off, however access to the existing Honeymoon track will not be affected.

Bonnie Vale campground is currently closed to allow for the remediation of asbestos containing material surfacing onsite. It will remain closed until further notice.

Closed areas: The Coast track at Burning Palms - major upgrade

The Coast track at Burning Palms will be subject to closures due to a major upgrade taking place from Monday 22 March to 30 June 2021.

The track will be closed every Monday (8am) to Thursday (4pm) during the closure period. The track will remain open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

These works will affect access to:

  • Figure 8 Pools
  • Palm Jungle loop track
  • The Coast track between Burning Palms and Otford lookout

Closed areas: Audley boatshed - conservation and repair works

The Audley Boatshed will be undergoing important conservation and repair works. Boat hire is suspended and the boatshed, its slipway and a part of the carpark to the west will be closed during this period. Allambie Flat picnic area and carpark remains open. Other planned events: Ferry wharf reinstatement

Transport for New South Wales are currently undertaking land-based investigations in support of the reinstatement of the ferry wharves at La Perouse and Kurnell within Kamay Botany Bay National Park.

These areas are still open to the public, however there may be some minor disruptions to some areas of usual access and parking. To find out more about this project please visit the Transport for NSW website.

Park info

  • in Royal National Park in the Sydney and surrounds and South Coast regions
  • Royal National Park is open 7am to 8.30pm but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • Park entry fees:

    $12 per vehicle per day. Seasonal ticket booths at Wattamolla and Garie Beach - cash and credit card facilities available. Please bring correct change. There's also coin and card operated pay and display machines to buy day passes.

    Vehicles over 8 seats: $4.40 per adult, $2.20 per child (per day). Students on educational programs: $1.10 per student. Teachers/educational supervisors: free (1 adult per 10 students).
