Closed areas: Bridge on Bonnievale to Maianbar walking track damaged

As a result of recent storms, the footbridge on the walking track between Bonnie Vale and Maianbar has been damaged. The bridge will remain open however visitors are asked not to stop or linger while crossing the bridge. For more information please call the Royal National Park Visitor Centre on 02 9542 0648.

Helicopter operations will take place on Royal Coast track between Garawarra Farm, Werrong Lookout and Otford Lookout on Wednesday 3 June 2020. The track will remain open, however walkers should expect short delays and follow the direction of NPWS staff.

NPWS is monitoring visitation to this park with the potential to close it entirely when peak capacity is reached. This is to protect the health and safety of our visitors and staff. 

Kurnell Visitor Centre is closed until further notice. Walking tracks in the park currently remain open. However, if you're visiting the park, please remember that social distancing and gathering size limits apply.

Closed areas: Bluefish track closed for track upgrades Monday to Friday

Bluefish track is closed Monday to Friday from Monday 1 June to Friday 28 August 2020 for track maintenance. The track will be open on weekends.

Closed areas: Malabar Headland Anzac Rifle Range

1. For public safety, the eastern section of Malabar Headland National Park is closed during ANZAC Rifle Range operations.

These closures may occur with little or no notice.

2. When is the eastern section of the park closed?

  • Every Saturday from Saturday 30 May 2020

3. Do not enter the eastern section of the park (including Boora Point walking track) when:

  • Red flags are flying above the range
  • There are warning signs at the park's entry points (South Maroubra Beach and Fishermans Road carpark)
  • Park entry gates are closed

These closures apply to the eastern section of the park only (Boora Point walking track).

The western section of the park (Western Escarpment walking track) remains open.

The range operation schedule is provided by the NSW Rifle Association.

The following parts of Royal & Heathcote  National Park are closed until further notice to protect the health and safety of our visitors and staff:

  • All campgrounds
  • Royal National Park Visitor Centre
  • Warumbul picnic area, including Warumbul Road from Rathane Telford Road intersection

 

Other Areas of the park currently remain open, including 

  • Audley Dance Hall Cafe is offering a takeaway service and card payments are preferred
  • Audley Boatshed is open for business

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is doing 1080 ground baiting using manufactured baits, fresh baits and Canid Pest Ejectors (CPEs) in Sydney Harbour National Park. This includes Chowder Bay and Dobroyd, Bradleys, Georges, Middle and North headlands. North Head includes adjoining land of Sydney Harbour Federation Trust, Australian Institute of Police Management, and Quarantine Station.

The program is continuous and ongoing between 1 February 2020 and 31 July 2020. All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs. Don’t touch baits or ejector devices. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Please be reminded that domestic pets are not permitted on NPWS estate. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Fox baiting in these reserves is aimed at reducing their impact on threatened species.

Safety alerts: Lower steps on Shark Island Wharf closed

The lower 4 steps of Shark Island Wharf are closed due to a safety hazard. Using these steps for berthing, drop-off and pick-up is prohibited. Access is only possible using the upper stairs.

Small vessels and boats may not be able to berth, particularly at low tide.

Safety alerts: Audley precinct in wet weather

Access across the Audley Weir may be closed due to river flooding during times of wet weather. During wet weather, NPWS advise park visitors to visit Live Traffic NSW to ascertain the status of the Weir crossing before commencing their travel to the park. During times of closure, access to Bundeena, Maianbar residential areas, Royal National Park Visitor Centre, including the Audley Dance hall and cafe, is via McKell Ave Waterfall.

  • Royal National Park is open 7am to 8.30pm but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • Park entry fees:

    $12 per vehicle per day. Seasonal ticket booths at Wattamolla and Garie Beach - cash and credit card facilities available. Please bring correct change. There's also coin and card operated pay and display machines to buy day passes.

    Vehicles over 8 seats: $4.40 per adult, $2.20 per child (per day). Students on educational programs: $1.10 per student. Teachers/educational supervisors: free (1 adult per 10 students).
