The following areas remain open:
- North Head Scenic Drive and loop road are open to vehicles.
- The bus stop opposite the Bella Vista Café is open.

Closed areas: Closed areas due to rifle range operations
The eastern section of Malabar Headland National Park will be closed on the following dates/times due to rifle range operations:
- Every Saturday, 8am to 5pm
- Every 1st, 3rd and 5th Sunday of the month, 8am to 5pm
- Veterans and Kings competitions will be held Monday 23 January to Sunday 29 January 2023.
- Service and Precision Rifle Championships are Saturday 11 March and Sunday 12 March 2023.
- Women on Target shooting days are Thursday 13 April to Sunday 16 April 2023.
Do not enter the eastern section of the park (including Boora Point walking track) when:
- Red flags are flying above the range
- The 'rifle range in use' warning signs are displayed at the park entry (South Maroubra Beach and Fishermans Road carpark)
- Park entry gates are closed.
The western section of the park (Western Escarpment walking track) is open when the rifle range is in use.

Closed areas: Part of Palm Jungle loop track closed for upgrades
The eastern section of Palm Jungle loop track will be closed for 12 months, between 16 January 2023 to 31 January 2024.
This is because we are upgrading the track.
The section of Palm Jungle Loop track affected is between Burning Palms and Werrong Lookout.
- You can still walk this section of The Coast Track if you divert via Garawarra Farm and Burgh Ridge Trail.
- You can still walk to Figure 8 Pools along the beach from Burning Palms.

Royal National Park can be extremely busy in summer. Some parts of the park may be closed at short notice when carparks are full or for other public safety reasons.
Areas likely to be affected by carpark closures or access restrictions when precincts reach capacity are:
- Wattamolla picnic area and Wattamolla Road
- Garawarra Farm carpark and Garawarra Farm Road (Figure 8 Pools carpark)
- Bonnie Vale picnic area
- Audley precinct
Please note that, due to a landslide, Transport for NSW has closed Garie Road at the intersection with Sir Bertram Stevens Drive. Vehicles and pedestrians will not be able to use any part of Garie Road to access any part of Royal National Park. A reopening date for this road is not currently known, but is expected to be in mid to late 2023.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a baiting program using manufactured baits, fresh baits and Canid Pest Ejectors (CPEs) containing 1080 poison (sodium fluroacetate) for the control of foxes. The program will take place between Thursday 25 August 2022 and Friday 31 March 2023 in Towra Point Nature Reserve.
Don’t touch baits or ejector devices. All baiting locations are identifiable by signs.
Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
Fox baiting in these reserves is aimed at reducing their impact on threatened species.

Fort Denison will be closed until late 2023.
Conservation and upgrade works are currently underway. Key elements include the construction of a new accessible wharf and maintenance and upgrade to buildings and services. Fort Denison will be closed to visitors until these works have been completed.

Standard work hours during the construction phase will be between:
- 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday
