1. For public safety, the eastern section of Malabar Headland National Park is closed during ANZAC Rifle Range operations.
These closures may occur with little or no notice.
2. When is the eastern section of the park closed?
- Every Saturday from 7.30am
- Every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month
- Monday 11 January through to Sunday 17 January 2021
- Saturday 23 January to Monday 25 January 2021
Please note:
- ANZAC Rifle Range is booked for shooting from Monday 11 January to Sunday 17 January 2021.
- Normal Club shooting day Saturday 16 January 2021
- The 2020 Queens Championships are scheduled to be held from Saturday 23 January to Monday 25 January 2021.
3. Do not enter the eastern section of the park (including Boora Point walking track) when:
- Red flags are flying above the range
- There are warning signs at the park's entry points (South Maroubra Beach and Fishermans Road carpark).
- Park entry gates are closed
These closures apply to the eastern section of the park only (Boora Point walking track).
The western section of the park (Western Escarpment walking track) remains open.

Yeramba Lagoon loop walking track in Georges River National Park is closed from behind Henry Lawson Drive down to the lagoon.
The pedestrian bridge over the lagoon runout channel has been removed while the weir is removed. This section of track is impassable and has been closed off.
This section is expected to reopen in late February 2021.

Safety alerts: Protect your picnic - native birds may steal your food
Birds at Nielsen Park are attempting to steal food from visitors' picnics and tables due to unauthorised feeding of local native birds. To try and reduce this unwanted behaviour, NPWS is asking visitors to not actively feed any wildlife and to please bring suitable methods to cover your food. These include storage containers with sealed lids or an umbrella to cover your picnic to reduce food visibility and access.
Please note, it is illegal to feed wildlife in a national park. NPWS officers are monitoring the area and fines apply if visitors are seen actively feeding birds and promoting this unwanted behaviour.

Some parts of North Head in Sydney Harbour National Park are closed due to fire damage. The closed areas include:

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a baiting program using manufactured baits, fresh baits and Canid Pest Ejectors (CPEs) containing 1080 poison (sodium fluroacetate) for the control of foxes. The program will take place between Thursday 27 August 2020 and Wednesday 31 March 2021 in Towra Point Nature Reserve.
Don’t touch baits or ejector devices. All baiting locations are identifiable by signs.
Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
Fox baiting in these reserves is aimed at reducing their impact on threatened species.

Safety alerts: Diversion on Mount Keira Ring track
The staircase on the western side of Mount Keira Road at the junction of Mount Keira Road and Queen Elizabeth Drive has been closed off for repairs. Please follow the relevant signage for a slight detour to the ring track at the crossing of Queen Elizabeth Drive.
If completing the loop in a clockwise direction: head north uphill of the closed staircase for roughly 50m until you come to an opening by the road. Take care crossing the road at this point and re-join the track at the usual entry point to the eastern side of the loop.
If completing the loop in an anticlockwise direction: when you get to Queen Elizabeth Drive crossing head north for roughly 50m from the point of entry to the western side of the loop. Re-join the track at this point.

Access across the Audley Weir may be closed due to river flooding during times of wet weather. During wet weather, NPWS advise park visitors to visit Live Traffic NSW to ascertain the status of the Weir crossing before commencing their travel to the park. During times of closure, access to Bundeena, Maianbar residential areas, Royal National Park Visitor Centre, including the Audley Dance hall and cafe, is via McKell Ave Waterfall.
