Closed areas: Woodward track is closed due to storm damage

Woodward track (accessed via Sublime Point) is closed due to damage from heavy rainfall events. Repair works are currently underway and is scheduled to reopen in September 2025 (weather permitting).

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an aerial baiting program in Abercrombie River National Park (NP), Abercrombie River State Conservation Area (SCA), Jenolan Karst Conservation Reserve (KCR), Kanangra-Boyd NP Mares Forest NP, and Turon NP from Monday 19th May – Sunday 1st June 2025.

The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise the impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.

Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Lake Toolooma fire trail closed at Lake Toolooma causeway

Contractors will be remediating flood damage to the stream bank at Lake Toolooma fire trail causeway.

Vehicle and pedestrian access will not be possible at this location for the duration of the works.

Walkers who are crossing the trail at the north end from the Bullawarring track to 108 fire trail will still be able to do this.

Works commence Monday April 28th 2025 and aim to be completed by 20th June 2025.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting an aerial baiting program using dried meat baits containing 1080 poison (sodium fluroacetate) for the control of foxes. The program will occur from Tuesday 6 May to Saturday 10 May 2025 in Royal National Park.

All baiting locations are identifiable by signs. Please don’t touch baits.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Fox baiting in this reserve is aimed at improving the eco-health of the reserve by reducing predation of ground dwelling mammals and small birds, and specifically targeting fox control along the Hacking River to assist the successful re-introduction of platypus into Royal National Park.

Closed areas: IESCA Kembla Heights area is closed for the construction of the Kembla Stage 1 Mountain Bike Network

Construction works have commenced on the first stage of the Illawarra Escarpment Mountain Bike Project at Kembla Heights. 

Construction is being carried out in accordance with rigorous environmental and cultural heritage planning approvals, the Illawarra Escarpment Mountain Bike Strategy and our Cycling Strategy.

People are reminded that the area is a closed construction site. Please stay off the tracks until they are opened in mid-2025 for your safety and to allow the network to be completed.

Closed areas: Deer control program in Upper Nepean State Conservation Area from 24 March - 30 June 2025

Upper Nepean State Conservation Area (UNSCA) will be conducting a feral deer management program between 5:00pm and 6:00am, from Monday 24 March 2025 - Monday 30 June 2025.

This program is part of our ongoing efforts to reduce the significant impact of deer on native plants and animals, including threatened species.

  • The control method will involve use of firearms by qualified and experienced contractors and staff.

 

Please note, UNSCA is entirely within the WaterNSW Special Area and is permanently closed to public access.

Safety alerts: Landslide on Auxillary trail- Heathcote National Park

A landslip occurred on an auxillary trail (near Dingo tunnel) off Lower pipeline fire trail in April 2024. Pedestrians and Cyclists are not permitted to pass the landslip.

Authorised Vehicles are not permitted to drive the auxillary trial until further notice.

There are no walking tracks or visitors facilities in this area.
