Closed areas: Royal National Park Visitor Centre and other areas closed

The following parts of Royal National Park are closed until further notice to protect the health and safety of our visitors and staff:

  • Wattamolla Beach precinct, including the carpark, lagoon and picnic area
  • Garie Beach precinct, with no lifeguard patrols present
  • Garawarra Farm carpark (Figure 8 Pools access)
  • Bonnie Vale picnic area and campground
  • All campgrounds
  • Royal National Park Visitor Centre

Other areas of the park currently remain open, including:

  • Audley Dance Hall cafe is offering a takeaway service and card payments are preferred
  • Walking tracks remain open however, please remember that social distancing and gathering size limits apply in Royal National Park.

Closed areas: Georges River National Park - Walk-in access only

All vehicle access points to Georges River National Park, including Morgans Creek boat ramp, are closed until further notice to protect the health and safety of our visitors and staff. Walking tracks remain open. However, please remember that social distancing and gathering size limits apply in Georges River National Park.

Parts of Dharawal National Park and Dharawal State Conservation Area are closed until further notice to protect the health and safety of our visitors and staff.

The closed areas are:

  • Victoria Road, Wedderburn precinct, including O'Hare's Creek lookout and walking track and Minerva Pool and Jingga walking tracks
  • Maddens Falls precinct including Maddens Falls walking track/boardwalk.

The following parts of Sydney Harbour National Park and Kamay Botany Bay National Park are closed until further notice to protect the health and safety of our visitors and staff:

  • Shark Beach, Nielsen Park
  • Milk Beach, Hermit Beach and Queens Beach, Hermitage foreshore precinct
  • Lady Bay Beach, South Head
  • Congwong Beach and Little Congwong Beach, La Perouse 
  • Kurnell Visitor Centre and barbecues, Kurnell

Walking tracks in the park currently remain open. However, visitors are reminded that social distancing and gathering size limits apply.

Other planned events: Toilet closure - Kurnell

The toilets at the Commemoration Flat and Cricketers Pitch areas in Kamay Botany Bay National Park will be closed for repairs from Monday 3 February 2020 to Tuesday 31 March 2020.

Toilets will be available at the Visitors Centre, a short walk from the closed buildings. Picnic areas and the surrounds will remain accessible.

Other planned events: Fox baiting program underway

A fox baiting program will take place in Towra Point Nature Reserve from Monday 24 February to Monday 9 March 2020. Areas where baiting is underway will be signposted. The area is a nature reserve and closed to the public. Domestic pets are not permitted.

This program is part of the Little Tern and Pied Oystercatcher Saving our Species program to protect nesting shorebirds. For more information, call the Kurnell Visitor Centre on 02 9668 2000.

Safety alerts: Audley precinct in wet weather

Access across the Audley Weir may be closed due to river flooding during times of wet weather. During wet weather, NPWS advise park visitors to visit Live Traffic NSW to ascertain the status of the Weir crossing before commencing their travel to the park. During times of closure, access to Bundeena, Maianbar residential areas, Royal National Park Visitor Centre, including the Audley Dance hall and cafe, is via McKell Ave Waterfall.

Park info

  • in Royal National Park in the Sydney and surrounds and South Coast regions
  • Royal National Park is open 7am to 8.30pm but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • Park entry fees:

    $12 per vehicle per day. Seasonal ticket booths at Wattamolla and Garie Beach - cash and credit card facilities available. Please bring correct change. There's also coin and card operated pay and display machines to buy day passes.

    Vehicles over 8 seats: $4.40 per adult, $2.20 per child (per day). Students on educational programs: $1.10 per student. Teachers/educational supervisors: free (1 adult per 10 students).
