Closed areas: Changes to Lane Cove National Park precinct closures
Many high visitation areas and facilities in Lane Cove National Park will be open from Friday 15 May 2020. Some areas will remain closed until further notice to protect the health and safety of our visitors and staff.
These closed areas and facilities include:
- Large shelter sheds at Tunks Hill (Area 22), Commandment Rock, Haynes Flat and Casuarina Point
- Haynes Flat toilets
Riverside walk will remain closed until further notice while staff work to fix extensive flood damage, erosion and unsafe conditions.
Lane Cove Holiday Park is unable to accommodate any camping, including caravans, motor-homes or cabin accommodation. If you have enquiries or wish to make a future booking, call the Lane Cove Holiday Park on 02 9888 9133.
The closure of toilets and other facilities will be decided on a case-by-case basis, with necessary site assessments considering the management of health and safety risk to visitors and staff, as well as available resourcing to maintain facilities. Access to sanitation products and running water cannot be guaranteed. We recommend bringing hand soap, hand wipes and toilet paper with you to maintain good hygiene as advised by the NSW Government.
Visitors are reminded to practice appropriate social distancing requirements and good hygiene. The maximum group size for an outdoor gathering is 10 people. Groups are still expected to maintain social distancing. If you arrive at a national park or other public space and it is too crowded to practice social distancing, it is your responsibility to leave the area. Do not wait to be instructed by NPWS or police.
For more information regarding closures, contact the NPWS Contact Centre on 1300 072 757. The NPWS North Western Sydney area office is currently closed to the public, but you can call us on 02 8448 0400 or email for further information.
