Closed areas: Visitor areas closed

Some high visitation areas and remote campgrounds in Berowra Valley National Park and Marramarra National Park are closed until further notice to protect the health and safety of our visitors and staff. 

The closed areas include:

  • Barnetts playground
  • Tunks Ridge rest area
  • Gentleman's Halt campground
  • Marramarra Creek campground
  • Twin Beaches campground 

Many tracks and trails within Marramarra National Park remain closed to allow for crews to fix damage from recent flooding and storms which have caused unsafe conditions.

The closed tracks and trails include: 

  • Canoelands Ridge walking track
  • Canoelands Ridge horse riding trail
  • Coba Ridge to Collingridge Point track

Safety alerts: Marramarra Ridge public access road - drive with caution

The Marramarra Ridge public access road, from Bloodwood Road to the Marramarra Ridge trail gate, should be driven slowly and with care in 2WD vehicles. The road surface has become rough and potholed due to wear and tear, compounded by impacts from heavy rains in February 2020. Roadworks are scheduled to occur prior to July 2020.

Closed areas: Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park - visitor areas and facilities closed

Many high visitation areas and facilities within Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park are closed until further notice to protect the health and safety of our visitors and staff. The closed areas include:

  • Bobbin Head Information Centre
  • All large picnic shelters
  • All barbecue facilities
  • All playgrounds
  • Brooklyn Dam campsites
  • Empire Marina (excluding boat owners) and Waterside Cafe  
  • Barrenjoey Headland and Barrenjoey Lighthouse

Berowra track remains closed between Apple Tree Bay and the intersection of Mount Ku-ring-gai track until further notice while staff fix extensive storm damage.

If you're visiting the park, please bring a card to pay vehicle entry fees.

Other planned events: 1080 pest management

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is doing 1080 ground baiting using manufactured baits, fresh baits and Canid Pest Ejectors (CPEs) in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.

The program is continuous and ongoing between 1 February 2020 and 31 July 2020. All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs. Don’t touch baits or ejector devices. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Please be reminded that domestic pets are not permitted on NPWS estate. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Fox baiting in these reserves is aimed at reducing their impact on threatened species.

Safety alerts: Swimming safety in Berowra Valley National Park

Swimming is not advisable in Berowra Creek at certain times as the water may be subject to variable pollution levels and algal blooms. Please refer to the Hornsby Shire Council website before swimming in Berowra Creek.

Swimming at Fishponds is not advised at any time due to heavy water pollution.
