Closed areas: Parts of Blue Mountains National Park closed
Many roads, fire trails and walking tracks in Blue Mountains National Park are closed due to infrastructure repairs, upgrades or damage caused by wet weather including subsidence, rockfalls, landslides and fallen trees.
The following tracks are closed:
Katoomba and Leura
- Honeymoon Bridge is closed due to rockfall hazards. (Visible bridge from Echo Point. Side route off Three Sisters Track and Giant Stairs.)
- Leura Cascades track (bottom section) is closed until the end of 2025 for track upgrade works. There is no access to Prince Henry Cliff walk (part of Grand Clifftop walk) between the top of Leura Cascades and the Amphitheatre junction. Short detour via Cliff Drive.
- Leura Cascades parking area and toilets are closed. Visit the Blue Mountains City Council website for information.
- Fern Bower track between Prince Henry Cliff walk and Amphitheatre track is closed due to landslides and associated repairs.
- Glenraphael Drive (Narrow Neck fire trail) is closed to vehicles near Cliff Drive due to a road subsidence. Walkers & cyclists are permitted.
- Mt Solitary walking route will be closed from Maxwells Track to Sublime Pt Fire Trail for helicopter operations on 5 Sept 2025. Walkers will have to detour via Maxwells and Kedumba Camping Area and Kedumba Valley Rd while it is closed. Stop go closures will also be implemented on Ruined Castle Track. Delays should be expected.
- Part of Lindeman Pass is closed due to a major landslide below Gladstone lookout. Roberts Pass is closed due to rockfall and landslide hazards.
- Six Foot track is affected by closures at Jenolan Caves.
Wentworth Falls and Woodford
- Part of National Pass (west of Wentworth Falls middle crossing) is closed due to a major landslide and ongoing risks.
- Wentworth Pass and Slack Stairs are closed due to elevated boardwalk repairs. There's no access to Roberts Pass, Hippocrene or Vera Falls.
- Valley of the Waters is closed below Silvia Falls due rockfall hazards. There is no access to Roberts Pass, Hippocrene or Vera Falls.
- Mt Solitary walking route will be closed from Maxwells Track to Sublime Pt Fire Trail for helicopter operations on 5 Sept 2025. - Govetts descent and Rodriguez Pass are closed due to rockfalls and landslides.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting a ground baiting program in Wyrrabalong National Park, Tuggerah Nature Reserve, and Tuggerah State Conservation Area from the 8th of September 2025 to the 26th of September 2025.
The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes. The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species.
Signs will be placed at all authorised entry points to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Multiple trail closures - South Marramarra NP
Roadworks will be undertaken on Marramarra Ridge Trail, Marramarra Creek Trail and Coba Ridge Trail from Tuesday 12 August 2025 and will continue for several weeks. There will be increased heavy vehicle traffic along with heavy plant operations between 7am - 5pm Monday to Friday. The trails will be closed periodically while works take place. Visitors must follow directions of roadwork signage and staff.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a baiting program using manufactured baits, fresh baits and Canid Pest Ejectors (CPEs) containing 1080 poison (sodium fluroacetate) for the control of foxes. The program is continuous and ongoing between1 August 2025 and 31 January 2026 in Garigal National Park. Don’t touch baits or ejector devices. Penalties apply for non-compliance.
All baiting locations are identifiable by signs.
Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
Fox baiting in these reserves is aimed at reducing their impact on threatened species.

Part of Piles Creek Loop Walking Track will be closed until 30 June 2026 while rockfall investigations and mitigation works are undertaken.
The closed area is between the suspension bridge and Bundilla Lookout on the western side of Piles Creek.
Areas that will remain open are:
- Piles Creek Loop Walking Track on the eastern side of Piles Creek
- Access to the Great North Walk from Girrakool Picnic Area
- Bundilla Lookout

Safety alerts: Remote walking track conditions
Remote routes within the Kanangra Wilderness Area including Kanangra to Katoomba (K2K) trail have been impacted by heavy fire regrowth and flood damage.
In some places, tracks are no longer visible and are not easy to navigate, taking longer to traverse than expected. Limited to zero water sources are currently available along routes.
If you plan to walk in the area, please ensure you have an appropriate level of experience, navigation skills and equipment including Personal Locator Beacon (PLB).
Mobile reception is limited so alternative communication methods are strongly recommended.

Somersby Falls walking track, including access to the middle and bottom waterfalls will be closed from 30 June to 10 October 2025 while the track is upgraded.
The picnic area and carpark will remain open during the works.

Ground baiting will occur in Yiraaldiya National Park (formerly Shanes Park).
The program is designed to eradicate feral predators in a feral predator free area before reintroducing locally extinct animals including threatened species. Baits will only be laid inside the fenced area (the baiting location).
Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Closed parks: Yiraaldiya National Park closed during the establishment of feral predator-free area
Yiraaldiya National Park is a feral predator-free area. This means that feral predators, such as red foxes and feral cats, are being eradicated from the park. Locally extinct native wildlife are being reintroduced, including eastern bettongs, koalas and long-nosed bandicoots. For this reason, there is no access to the park while the feral predator-free area is being established. Once complete, the park will open for sustainable visitor access and enjoyment, and educational and research opportunities.
During the closure period visitors may not visit the park, and only NPWS staff and authorised contractors and volunteers are allowed entry to the park.
