Closed areas: Parts of Blue Mountains National Park closed

Many roads, fire trails and walking tracks in Blue Mountains National Park are closed due to infrastructure repairs, upgrades or damage caused by wet weather including subsidence, rockfalls, landslides and fallen trees.

The following roads/tracks/sections are closed:

Katoomba and Leura

• A number of tracks have been closed due to the recent rainfall and ongoing risk of landslides and rockfall. Closed Tracks include Fern Bower, Federal Pass, Dardenelles Pass, Giant Stairs, Furber Steps, Golden Stairs, Runined Castle and the Mt Solitary Loop. These are due to reopen on the 24th of Jan 2025.  
• Prince Henry Cliff Top Walk (part of the Grand Cliff Top Walk) is closed between Honeymoon Lookout and Solitary Resturant due to a recent landslide.   
• Honeymoon Bridge is closed due to rockfall hazards. (Visible bridge from Echo Point. Side route off Three Sisters Track and Giant Stairs).
• Part of Prince Henry Cliff Walk and Grand Cliff Top Walk is closed between Ampithreatre Track and Kiah Lookout due to a landslide. Short detour via Cliff Drive or Amphitheatre & Fern Bower.
• Katoomba Falls Round walk (west) is closed for track upgrade works from Wednesday 5 November to Saturday 28 February 2026. Scenic World Valley Stations and Federal Pass can be accessed via Furber steps.
• Glenraphael Drive (Narrow Neck fire trail) is closed to vehicles near Cliff Drive due to a road subsidence. Walkers and cyclists are permitted.
• Part of Lindeman Pass is closed due to a major landslide below Gladstone lookout. Roberts Pass is closed due to rockfall and landslide hazards.
• Six Foot track is closed at the boundary to the Jenolan Caves Karst Conservation Reserve. Jenolan Karst Conservation Reserve (including the Caves Visitor Precinct) is closed until 31 December 2026. There is no access to the entire reserve during this time.

Wentworth Falls and Woodford  

• A number of tracks have been closed due to the recent rainfall and ongoing risk of landslides and rockfall. Closed Tracks include Valley of the Waters and Kedumba Pass. Closed campgrounds include Kedumba River Campground. Empress Canyon is also closed. These are due to reopen on the 24th of Jan 2025. 
• Part of National Pass (west of Wentworth Falls middle crossing) is closed due to a major landslide and ongoing risks.
• Wentworth Pass and Slack Stairs are closed due to elevated boardwalk repairs. There is no access to Roberts Pass, Hippocrene or Vera Falls routes. 
• Valley of the Waters is closed below Silvia Falls due rockfall hazards. There is no access to Roberts Pass, Hippocrene or Vera Falls.

Blackheath, Mount Victoria, Megalong Valley and Bells Line of Road 

• A number of tracks have been closed due to the recent rainfall and ongoing risk of landslides and rockfall. Closed Tracks include Grand Canyon Track, Victoria Falls, Perrys Lookdown, Pierces Pass and Shortridge Pass. Closed canyons incldue Juggler and Grand Canyons. Closed campgrounds include Acacia Flat and Burra Korian. These are due to reopen on the 24th of Jan 2025.
• Pulpit Rock Reserve, lookouts and part of the walking track are closed. For more information visit the Blue Mountains City Council website. Pulpit Rock walking track from Popes Glen is open as far as the NPWS boundary (as shown on Google maps).
• Govetts descent and parts of Rodriguez Pass are closed due to rockfalls and landslides. Valley access from Blackheath is via Horse Track.

Adventure recreation, canyons, abseiling and rock climbing

Some adventure recreation areas and routes may be closed where the access or exit road/track is mentioned above.

Safety alerts: Cedarland Ridge Trail maintenance work

Cedarland Ridge Trail, the access track from Mount Solitary to Kedumba River campground, will be undergoing maintenance from Monday 12 January 2026 to Thursday 12 February 2026. Please exercise caution during this time and follow the direction of staff and signage.

Closed parks: Jenolan Caves Karst Conservation Reserve closed for ground-based pest control operations

Ground-based pest control operations will happen in Jenolan Caves Karst Conservation Reserve between 20 January and 20 April 2026. The park will be closed during this time.

Jenolan Karst Conservation Reserve (including the Visitor Precinct and walking tracks) is closed until 31st December 2026 while major infrastructure repairs and upgrades are underway.

There is no access to the Reserve or Jenolan Caves via the Six Foot Track.
