Closed areas: National Pass, Wentworth Pass and Roberts Pass closed
National Pass, Wentworth Pass and Roberts Pass remain closed for an extended period following a serious rockfall in November 2017 which killed a worker and seriously injured two others. The area of the rockfall remains dangerous. The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is investigating carefully how the geological hazards can be dealt with so that visitors can return to these areas in the future. However a definite time frame is not known because the issues are complex. Visitors can access the base of the Wentworth Falls below the Grand Stairs. Valley of Waters track is open to the base of Empress Falls. Empress Canyon is also open. Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information, please contact Blue Mountains Heritage Centre on (02) 4787 8877 or visit the NSW National Parks safety page for park safety guidelines.
