Closed areas: Overcliff track closed Tuesday to Friday

Overcliff track is closed for walking track maintenance Tuesday to Friday from Tuesday 16 April to Friday 28 June 2019. The track will remain closed unless the closure is otherwise extended or removed.

Closed areas: Area closed for hazard reduction burn - Big Plain

Some areas of these parks are closed for the duration of the Big Plain hazard reduction burn. This closure may be extended and any extension will be posted as soon as possible. Do not enter any closed area or area with fire. If you see an unattended fire, call Triple Zero (000). The closed areas are:

  • The section of Kowmung River between Moola Point and Black Snake Bend
  • All areas immediately north of Oberon-Colong stock route, between Ruby Creek and Waterfall Creek.

Other planned events: Big Plain hazard reduction burn

Visitors to the southern part of Blue Mountains National Park and Kanangra-Boyd National Park should be aware of the Big Plain hazard reduction burn. The burn will start on Friday 12 April 2019 and will be on Oberon-Colong stock route, west of Yerranderie. It will extend north from Oberon-Colong stock route to Kowmung River, between the junction with Ruby Creek to the west, and Waterfall Creek to the east. 

This burn area is closed to bushwalkers along Kowmung River between Moola Point and Black Snake Bend. The Oberon-Colong stock route will remain open to traffic, however drivers are reminded to drive to the conditions.

Other planned events: 1080 wild dog ground baiting program

A 1080 wild dog ground baiting program will occur from Friday 12 April to Friday 10 May 2019. This program will be carried out in the Mount Werong / Jerrong area of Blue Mountains National Park on:

  • Middle Werong fire trail
  • Lower Werong fire trail
  • Mount Werong fire trail  

A reminder that domestic pets are not allowed in reserves managed by NSW National Parks and that 1080 is harmful to domestic pets.

Closed areas: Ingar campground closed

Ingar campground and Ingar Road are closed to vehicle access due to private property building works. The closure is indefinite because it relates to access through the private property. No opening date can be advised. NPWS apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Ingar Road and Ingar campground can still be accessed by walkers and cyclists.

Closed areas: Prince Henry Cliff walking track - between Leura Cascades and Solitary restaurant 

Prince Henry Cliff walking track is closed between Leura Cascades and Solitary restaurant until further notice. This closure is due to a landslide that has completely blocked the track. An alternative track is available via Leura Cascades Round Walk. Visitors can also walk from Leura Cascades to Solitary restaurant adjacent Cliff Drive but should be wary of traffic.

Closed areas: National Pass, Wentworth Pass and Roberts Pass closed

National Pass, Wentworth Pass and Roberts Pass remain closed for an extended period following a serious rockfall in November 2017 which killed a worker and seriously injured two others. The area of the rockfall remains dangerous. The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is investigating carefully how the geological hazards can be dealt with so that visitors can return to these areas in the future. However a definite time frame is not known because the issues are complex. Visitors can access the base of the Wentworth Falls below the Grand Stairs.
