Camping, including caravans and motor-homes, is not permitted in national parks from Friday 27 March 2020 until further notice to protect the health and safety of our visitors and staff. 

NPWS is working to reopen all campgrounds and accommodations where possible, however, some locations need to remain closed to ensure compliance with the current rules on public gatherings 

If you would like to stay at a reopened campground or cabin after 1 June you’ll need to revisit this webpage and make a booking. From 1 June, all reopened campgrounds and campsites will require a booking to be made before you visit.

Safety alerts: 1080 pest control program underway

A 1080 pest baiting control program targeting wild dogs and foxes is happening in the central section of Jilliby State Conservation Area from Tuesday 28 April to Thursday 28 May 2020. Baits will be laid in the vicinity of Watagan Forest Road, from Middle Ridge Road in the north to Boyds Point Road in the south.

Visitors and neighbours are reminded that domestic dogs are prohibited in NSW national parks. If your dog is accidentally poisoned, seek urgent veterinary advice.

Safety alerts: 1080 pest management program

A 1080 baiting program targeting feral pests such as foxes and wild dogs is happening in Watagans National Park from Monday 18 May to Wednesday 10 June 2020. Roads will be affected, and they include:

  • Part of Watagan Forest Road
  • Bowmans Road
  • Dannys Point Road
  • Ingles Road
  • Carrolls Road
  • Georges Road

The program is focused on the protection of native and threatened animal species such as brush-tailed rock wallabies.

Domestic animals are not permitted in national parks at any time. Baits should not be handled or disturbed by unauthorised people. Dog owners should ensure that their dogs do not wander, because 1080 is poisonous for dogs. If your animal is accidentally poisoned, seek urgent veterinary assistance.

Mount Faulk Road is currently being repaired by the Forestry Corporation. Please drive to the conditions and be aware of earth-moving machines and contractors on the road. Take care and drive safely. Bangalow Road in Watagans National Park remains closed to campers.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a baiting program using manufactured meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes. The program will occur between Monday 4 May and Tuesday 30 June 2020 in Wollemi and Yengo National Parks, and Manobalai Nature Reserve.

All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting an aerial and ground baiting programs using meat baits, meat bait products and ejectors containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.

The program will be continuous and ongoing from Tuesday 5 May to Wednesday 4 November 2020 in Capertee, Dharug, Goulburn River, Gardens of Stone, Wollemi and Yengo National Parks; Durridgere, Mugii Murum-ban, Parr, Yango and Wollemi State Conservation Areas; Avisford, Manobalai and Munghorn Gap Nature Reserves; and Appletree Aboriginal Area.

All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs.

Safety alerts: Road access in Jilliby State Conservation Area

All roads in Jilliby State Conservation Area are unsealed, and not accessible by 2WD vehicles.  4WD vehicles should be used at all times. Red Hill Road in Jilliby State Conservation Area is only accessible by 4WD vehicles between Red Hill Quarry in the north, and the intersection of Prestons Ridge Road in the south.

Click Creek fire trail is closed due to extensive storm damage. The trail will remain closed until maintenance works can be completed. Slippery Rock Road is closed due to eroded surfaces making conditions unsafe. The road will reopen, subject to consent conditions once maintenance work is completed.

Watagan Road from the cattle grid at the end of Heaton Road south, uphill to the intersection of Watagan Forest Road is currently not suitable for 2WD vehicles. The road is rough and steep in sections because of erosion caused by rain and vehicle traffic. Roadworks to repair the road will be scheduled when resources become available. Take care and drive safely.

Mount Faulk Road north of Jenkins Road is currently not suitable for 2WD vehicles due to recent storm damage. The road is rough and rutted in sections due to erosion caused by torrential rain in February 2020. Roadworks are being scheduled to repair the road in the coming months. Visitors should take care and drive safely.
