Yambo Forest Road in Jilliby State Conservation Area is not suitable for 2WD vehicles due to rain and vehicle damage. 4WD access is possible from Dooralong Road through to the Lemon Tree Road intersection. Lemon Tree Road remains closed.

Closed areas: Middle Ridge Road - fire trail closed

Middle Ridge Road is closed from the intersection of Null Road. No vehicle or pedestrian access to Ravensdale Road. All areas in this park are closed from Monday 10 February 2020 until further notice due to flood damage and unsafe conditions. This includes all tracks, trails, campgrounds and picnic areas. Closed areas: Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park - partial closure

All roads and visitor precincts in Ku-ring-gai west have now reopened. All tracks and trails are now open, though visitors should take caution as some sections remain affected by recent storms. 

Some areas remain closed due to flooding and unsafe conditions. The closed areas include:

  • Kalkari Visitor Centre 
  • Gibberagong Education Centre

All areas within Ku-ring-gai east are open.

Safety alerts: Marramarra Ridge public access road - drive with caution

The Marramarra Ridge public access road, from Bloodwood Road to the Marramarra Ridge trail gate, should be driven slowly and with care in 2WD vehicles. The road surface has become rough and potholed due to wear and tear, compounded by impacts from heavy rains in February 2020. Roadworks are scheduled to occur prior to July 2020.

Maculata fire trail west from Jilliby Road linking to Daniels Point fire trail and Watagan Forest Road are closed due to 4WD damaged roads and trails. There is no through road access across Little Jilliby Jilliby Creek in either direction.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is doing 1080 ground baiting using manufactured baits, fresh baits and Canid Pest Ejectors (CPEs) in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.

The program is continuous and ongoing between 1 February 2020 and 31 July 2020. All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs. Don’t touch baits or ejector devices. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Please be reminded that domestic pets are not permitted on NPWS estate. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Fox baiting in these reserves is aimed at reducing their impact on threatened species.

Fire bans: Park fire ban

A park fire ban is in place in this park from Sunday 1 September 2019 and remains in effect until Tuesday 31 March 2020.

Mill Creek and Ten Mile Hollow campgrounds are exempt.

During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, please contact the local park office before using a gas and or electric barbecue or cooker.

Safety alerts: Swimming safety in Berowra Valley National Park

Swimming is not advisable in Berowra Creek at certain times as the water may be subject to variable pollution levels and algal blooms. Please refer to the Hornsby Shire Council website before swimming in Berowra Creek.

Swimming at Fishponds is not advised at any time due to heavy water pollution.

All roads in Jilliby State Conservation Area are unsealed, and not accessible by 2WD vehicles.  4WD's should be used at all  times.
