Other planned events: Notice of 1080 baiting

From Monday 25 October to Saturday 4 December 2021 NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting baiting using approved meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.

The program will be happening within:

  • Burragorang State Conservation Area (in the vicinity of Oakdale and Werombi)
  • Nattai National Park (in the vicinity of Oakdale and Lakesland)
  • Joadja Nature Reserve

This program is part of a joint control program being coordinated by NPWS with the South East Local Land Services to assist with the ongoing management of wild dog impacts on properties.

Domestic animals may be affected. 1080 poison is lethal to cats and dogs. Residents should restrain domestic animals and ensure they do not enter the baiting location during 1080 operations. It is recommended that working dogs are muzzled if they're required to work near the baiting location during or after the operations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance. Baits may remain active after the dates specified.

Warning signs will be displayed to notify the public about the program. Visitors are reminded not to handle or disturb any baits.
