The following areas of Wollemi National Park are closed:

  • Newnes campground and picnic area
  • Glow Worm picnic area
  • Glow Worm walking track from Newnes campground
  • Weir-Long Cave walk is closed at the junction with Pagoda Rocks walking track (Dunns Swamp)
  • River Gauging station (Dunns Swamp)
  • Bicentennial National trail – Widden to Glen Alice, Glen Alice to Jenolan
  • Deep Pass campground and canyons in Wollemi National Park
  • Newnes Industrial Ruins
  • Wheeny Creek
  • Sheepskin Hut
  • Pipeline track

The following areas of Wollemi National Park are open:

  • Bob Turner track

Safety advice:

  • Please be aware that due to recent fires and floods there may be dangerous hazards in this park. These include falling trees and branches, flooded creeks and crossings, and debris on tracks.
  • If accessing remote areas of national parks, please visit the Think before you TREK page

Other planned events: 1080 baiting for post bushfire relief

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a ground and aerial baiting program using fresh meat, manufactured baits and Canid Pest Ejectors containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes. The program will be ongoing between Tuesday 31 March and Friday 31 July 2020.

All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

The Nullo Mountain precinct of Wollemi National Park will be closed on Wednesday 11 of March 2020 for an aerial post bushfire pest management operation. Safety alerts: Coorongooba campground - river access

Access to the Coorongooba campground is via a causeway through Capertee River. This causeway is subject to flooding. The Capertee River can rise unexpectedly with heavy rains falling upstream, making the causeway impassable. Please check the weather forecast before leaving home.

Safety alerts: 4WD access only to Ben Bullen trail and Baal Bone Gap picnic area

The Ben Bullen trail and Baal Bone Gap picnic area is suitable for high clearance 4WD vehicles only. There are large ruts and washed out sections in the Ben Bullen State Forest that are not suitable for low clearance vehicles. Closed areas: Bicentennial trail closed

Bicentennial trail is closed due to drought conditions. Crown Lands has advised the Office of Environment and Heritage (NSW National Parks) that, due to lack of water and feed, it is strongly advised that visitors do not undertake the trek along the trail with horses.

The toilet at Deep Pass campground is temporarily closed due to capacity limitations. Planning for a  new toilet  facility is currently underway. 

Please use minimal impact  camping practices in this area. Large groups should consider camping at alternative sites. Groups in excess of 20 people require approval from the NPWS Oberon area office.

The Pipeline track between Glen Davis and Newnes is closed until further notice. There is no access across private property at Glen Davis, and trespassing is prohibited.
