Closed areas: The Coast walking track - temporary closure

Sections of the Wyrrabalong Coast walk between Bateau Bay carpark and Crackneck lookout will be temporarily closed from Monday 26 April 2021 to mid-June 2021 due to maintenance works. In order to minimise disruption, detours will be in place around sections closed for construction via the local road network.

Track upgrades will improve visitor safety and experiences along the walking track.

The proposed scope of works includes:

  • Improvement and replacement of track surfaces and structures
  • Installation of drainage structures to manage erosion and stormwater flows entering the reserve
  • Installation of bicycle prevention structures to improve visitor safety and manage multi use of the visitor precinct.

Access to Crackneck lookout and the southern section of the coast track from Crackneck lookout carpark to Cromarty Hill are unaffected by the temporary closure.

For your safety, please follow park signage. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Safety alerts: Limited 1080 pest control program

A limited 1080 poison feral pest animal baiting program will be taking place from Wednesday 2 June to Wednesday 23 June 2021 in the central section of this park, and on some adjacent private properties with the consent of landholders. The program is centred on the northern section of the Ravensdale Valley near Yarramalong.

The baiting is targeting wild dogs which are a major predator of native wildlife and can be responsible for attacks on domestic farm stock.

The affected areas include the western side of Watagan Forest Road between Bee Camp Point Road in the north to Pitts Point Road in the south, to Ravensdale Road in the west.

Please remember that domestic animals are not permitted in this park at any time. 1080 poison is toxic to domestic cats and dogs. Seek urgent veterinary care if you suspect your animal has taken a bait.
