Other planned events: Precinct closures due to high visitation during summer

Munmorah State Conservation Area can be extremely busy over the summer period. Popular visitor areas may close to vehicles once they become full or in the event of an emergency.

Areas that may be closed to vehicles when carparks are full include:

  • Birdie Beach and picnic area
  • Fraser Beach and picnic area
  • Snapper point
  • Palms picnic area

Safety alerts: Lemon Tree Road Jilliby SCA - Roadworks Commencing

Lemon Tree Road in Jilliby SCA will be closed from Wednesday 5th January to Friday 4th March 2022 to continue the essential repair of this access road. The work will recommence from the corner of Yambo Forest and continue north for 10kms to the corner of Prickly Ridge Road. Visitors are asked not to venture into this area as the road work continues. Safety alerts: Potential closure on busy days due to high visitation

Putty Beach picnic area is a popular visitor area which on sunny days may become overcrowded, causing traffic congestion and safety concerns. At busy times the access to Putty Beach picnic area may be limited by NPWS or closed completely. Penalties apply for non-compliance with NPWS regulations and parking restriction notices.

Closed areas: Middle Ridge Road - fire trail closed

Middle Ridge Road is closed from the intersection of Null Road. There is no vehicle or pedestrian access to Ravensdale Road. This trail is dormant and not open for public use. Penalties apply for non-compliance. Closed areas: Fire trails, roads closed due to damage

The following fire trails are closed due to illegal 4WD damage:

  • Maculata fire trail west of Jilliby Road to Daniels Point fire trail
  • Eastern section of Daniels Point fire trail to Jilliby Jilliby Creek

There is no vehicle access across Little Jilliby Jilliby Creek in either direction. Locked gates are in place in several locations.

Closed areas: Lemon Tree Forest Road closed

The section of Lemon Tree Forest Road, between Prickly Ridge Road and Yambo Forest Road, in Jilliby State Conservation Area is closed to vehicles. This closure will remain in place indefinitely due to severe erosion and 4WD vehicle damage.
