The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be undertaking repairs to The Coast Track between Crackneck Point Lookout and Wyrrabalong Lookout between the 28th April 2025 to 18th July 2025.
The track will need to be closed to the public for a period between these dates while works are undertaken to ensure the safety of visitors.
The track repairs will focus on eroded sections of the track by repairing the track surface, demolishing and replacing retaining walls, and improving drainage to enhance visitor safety, reduce maintenance, and minimise erosional impacts on the surrounding environment.

Planned road repairs and maintenance is scheduled for Bangalow Road from 1 July 2025 to 1 September 2025. Heavy plant and machinery will be operating along Bangalow Road.
Areas that will also be closed due to these works include:

Safety alerts: Periodic closures of Wyrrabalong National Park (North) for fox control shooting operation
Parts of Wyrrabalong National Park (North) will be closed for periods within a date range of Monday 16th June 2025 to Wednesday 30th December 2025 for fox control night shoot operations preventing localised economic impacts and protecting biodiversity assets within the park.
When active, the shoot operation area will be delignated by signage advising visitors “do not enter” at any time during the night-time operation.

Somersby Falls walking track, including access to the middle and bottom waterfalls will be closed from 30 June to 10 October 2025 while the track is upgraded.
The picnic area and carpark will remain open during the works.
Consider visiting the nearby Girrakool picnic area less than 5 minutes away which also has waterfalls, walking tracks and a well established picnic area.

Guudjii Yiigu – A Worimi Welcome
Due to the current warnings of a possible East Coast Low, visitors are advised that beach driving is temporarily closed on the Worimi Conservation Lands.
The Worimi Conservation Lands are expected to be impacted by damaging winds, large swell, coastal erosion and storm damage..
The following accesses are temporarily closed to vehicles:
- Gan Gan 4wd entry Anna Bay
- Lavis Lane 4wd entry Williamtown
- Fern Bay 4wd entry Fern Bay
- Recreational Vehicle Area (RVA)
- Ganyamalbaa campground
The closure will be in effect from 30th June 2025 to 4th July 2025. Staff will continually assess the conditions as they change.

Walking track maintenance will be underway on Wangi Circuit Track from Wednesday 11 June to Friday 27 June 2025. The walking track may have areas temporarily fenced off and detour signs in place while work is being undertaken. Closed areas: Parts of Sugarloaf State Conservation Area closed
Parts of Sugarloaf State Conservation Area are closed for approved underground mining operations. The affected areas (see map) have been closed to protect visitor safety, because they're subject to subsidence and remediation activities from the mining operations.
Great North walk remains open. An update will be provided should this situation change.
If you're visiting the park, please be aware of subsidence and pollution incidents that took place in 2013, which were greater than what was expected from normal mining operations. These included a cliff fall in the north, and a subsidence and grout leak incident in the central part of Sugarloaf State Conservation Area.
If you're planning to visit the park during this time, please stay on formed tracks and trails and observe all barriers, warning signs and safety messages. Areas subject to possible cliff fall or subsidence in both areas of the park are clearly marked.

Safety alerts: Rock fishing safety
Rock fishing is a popular activity for many national park visitors and your safety whilst fishing is important. Parts of the NSW Central Coast are a declared high risk area due to large swells and hazardous surf conditions. In these high risk areas under the NSW Rock Fishing Safety Act 2016, you are required by law to wear an appropriate life jacket. This includes children and anyone helping you fish. This is regulated by NSW Fisheries and poses an on the spot $100 fine if non-compliant.
Before rock fishing you should always:
Stay safe, always watch the local conditions, never turn your back on the ocean and never fish alone.
If you’re in doubt don’t go out.
