Other planned events: Fox and Wild Dog Trapping Program 3 June to 16 June 2024

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is conducting a fox and wild dog control program (soft-jaw foot-hold trapping) in Wallaroo National Park and Tilligerry State Conservation Area from 3 June 2024 to 16 June 2024.

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise the impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock. Works are conducted in collaboration with Local Land Services and neighbouring landowners.

Signs will be placed at main entrances to the affected reserves. Park users should keep to the middle of trails and not interfere with traps.

Neighbours and park users are reminded that domestic pets are never permitted in these NPWS reserves.

Please contact the Hunter Coast NPWS office for more information on 02 4984 8255.

Safety alerts: Dangerous water conditions

Please do not swim or enter the water at Stockton Beach in the Worimi Conservation Lands. Tragically, people have drowned while swimming here.

The beach is remote, unpatrolled and has dangerous rip currents, unexpected large waves and sudden drop offs. Ocean conditions can change rapidly.

Mobile phone service is also limited here - you may not be able to call for help if you need it.

SWIM BETWEEN THE RED AND YELLOW FLAGS AT BIRUBI POINT SURF LIFE SAVING CLUB AT ANNA BAY.

We want everyone to enjoy their visit - and to return home safely.

Safety alerts: Use caution for beach front driving

Beach driving conditions remain variable due to changing swell, tides and weather conditions. Drivers are advised to exercise caution when driving and to check conditions before travel.

Please remember to:

  • Look out for soft sand, erosion, wash outs and drop-offs.
  • Avoid driving through sea water, foam or large pools of water. Driving conditions can change rapidly. Several vehicles on this beach have ended up in the ocean or swamped by water.
  • Check conditions before arriving, and if in doubt save your visit for another day.

Please follow the directions of National Parks and Wildlife Service personnel and/or signage. Do not drive over the frontal dune or any vegetation.

Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information, please contact the NPWS Nelson Bay area office on 02 4984 8200 from 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.
