Closed areas: Dudley Beach carpark partial closure
Some parts of Dudley Beach carpark are closed from Monday 8 August 2022 to Sunday 15 October 2022 due to maintenance works to improve beach access.
The improvements include:
- Upgrading the northern beach access stairs
- Building a new viewing platform.
Dudley Beach will remain accessible from the carpark via the southern beach access throughout the project.

Closed areas: Gan Gan entry and Beach front driving temporarily closed
Beach driving is temporarily closed between the Gan Gan entry at Anna Bay to the Lavis Lane entry at Williamtown from Monday 8 August to Friday 12 August 2022, due to recent weather conditions.
The following areas are open:
- Lavis Lane entry
- Recreational vehicle area
- Ganyamalbaa campground
Please remember to:
- Look out for soft sand, erosion, wash outs and drop-offs.
- Avoid driving through sea water, foam or large pools of water. Driving conditions can change rapidly. Several vehicles on this beach have ended up in the ocean or swamped by water.
- Check conditions before arriving, and if in doubt save your visit for another day.
Please follow the directions of National Parks and Wildlife Service personnel and/or signage. Do not drive over the frontal dune or any vegetation.

Sections of roads within Hunter Wetlands National Park have ben damaged from the recent flooding in the area. Please do not drive through floodwaters.

Closed areas: Morisset picnic area closed
The Morisset section of Lake Macquarie State Conservation Area is closed from Thursday 20 December 2019. There is now no public access to the following areas:
- The Morisset Hospital site
- Lake Macquarie State Conservation Area foreshore
- Morisset picnic area.
Alternative picnic areas are located in the Lake Macquarie Council area in and around the Morisset and Bonnells Bay foreshores. There is no public access to view the kangaroos that frequent the hospital site. Members of the public can contact the hospital administrative office on 02 4973 0222.

Safety alerts: Hickson Street walking track partial closure
Hickson Street walking track is partially closed from Wednesday 20 July 2022 until further notice. The closure is due to structural damage that occurred to the walking track structure at the beach interface, as a result of recent coastal erosion and weather events.
Detour signage is in place to access Burwood Beach.

Closed areas: Hickson Street lookout - Tower works
Works will be commencing on the Hunter water tower at Hickson Street lookout, to enable construction of a new communications tower. As such, there will be a walking track detour.
The minor diversion and will not impact on community access to the lookout. Directional signage will be in place.
