There is a planned Hazard Reduction burn in this park from 14/04/2026. The fire is called Mt Olive Stage 2. Refer to the Rural Fire Service for latest information. Other planned events: Notice of 1080 baiting – Bouddi National Park

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting a ground baiting program in Bouddi National Park from Monday 29th September 2025 to Monday 20th October 2025.

 

The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes.

 

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species.

 

Signs will be placed at entry points to the baiting location.

 

Domestic pets are not permitted in NPWS managed lands, which includes all national parks and nature reserves.

 

Domestic pets, working dogs and assistance animals may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

 

Landlords, agents, and land managers, please provide notification of the operation to tenants, workers or visitors at properties adjoining the bait location.

Closed areas: Hawke Head Drive and Tallow Beach campground closed for roadworks

Hawke Head Drive in Bouddi National Park will be closed for roadworks from 16 February 2026 untill early May 2026 (estimated completion, weather permitting). Contractors will be working from 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

It will be closed to vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists for this time, including weekends. Tallow Beach campground will also be closed to campers for the duration of the works. This is to ensure visitor safety around machinery and active work zones.

The works are focused on improving the road surface conditions, drainage and sealing the visitor carpark.

Take note of the access information for areas that remain open.

  • Flannel Flower walking track, Box Head track and Tallow Beach trail will remain open during the roadworks. However, you will need to access these trails via the Lobster Beach Track.
     
  • Private property access for residents on Hawke Head Drive will not be affected. Residents should drive carefully as there will be increased vehicle movements and traffic control in place on select days.

Some parts of this park are closed for hazard reduction burning from Tuesday 14 April to Sunday 19 April 2026. The closed areas are:

- all informal walking tracks leading into Popran National Park west of Popran Creek. Includes Glenworth South Horse Track and Mailman's Walking Track

Note: road closures will be in place at entry points leading into the park off Popran and Ironbark Roads.

Closed areas: Part Somersby Falls walking track closed for upgrade

Part of Somersby Falls walking track will be closed until 6pm  Friday 17 April 2026 for upgrade works.

The closure affects the section of the walking track between the Middle Falls and Bottom Falls.

The walking track to Middle Falls, the picnic area and the carpark will remain open during this time.

Fencing and signage will be in place around the closed area to ensure visitor safety.

Closed areas: Partial closure Piles Creek Loop Walking Track

Part of Piles Creek Loop Walking Track will be closed while rockfall investigations and mitigation works are undertaken.

The closed area is between the suspension bridge and Bundilla Lookout on the western side of Piles Creek.

Areas that will remain open are:

  • Piles Creek Loop Walking Track on the eastern side of Piles Creek 
  • Access to the Great North Walk from Girrakool Picnic Area 
  • Bundilla Lookout 

Barriers and signage are in place around the closed area.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service are undertaking fire trail maintenance works on the Pearl Beach to Patonga Fire Trail.

Maintenance will repair damaged surfaces, drainage assets and essential trail infrastructure, as well as maintain vegetation clearances.

The trail will remain open throughout the works, though short delays may occur. Please follow all safety signage and directions from roadwork personnel.

Muogamarra Nature Reserve is only open to the public for 6 weeks every year, around spring time.

Due to the sensitive nature of the reserve, access is restricted at other times to approved educational and research activities only.

Muirs Lookout Picnic Area on Prickly Ridge Road has been closed due to ageing infrastructure, obstructed lookout views to the coast and very low public visitation. Warrah Trig Road is closed to vehicles due to an increase in illegal activities throughout the area.

The road will remain closed until investigations are completed and further recommendations are made.

The section of Prickly Ridge Road between Watagan Forest Road and Cut-Rock Road is suitable for 4WD vehicles only.

  • in Brisbane Water National Park in the Sydney and surrounds region
  • Two picnic areas in this park – Girrakool picnic area and Somersby Falls picnic area – are closed in the evening. They are open 7am to 8pm during daylight savings and 7am to 6pm at other times.

    Other areas of Brisbane Water National Park will be open at all times, however may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • Park entry fees:

    $8 per vehicle per day. The park has pay machines that accept cards, or you can pay via the Park'nPay app.
