Closed areas: Update to visitor area closures

Many COVID-19 restrictions have now been lifted from visitor precincts and facilities. However, several tracks and trails will remain closed while upgrades and remediation works are completed.

Please note the following updates:

  • Tunks Ridge campground remains closed until further notice while staff assess safety concerns
  • Bookings for Twin Beaches South and North campgrounds are now available online.

Please remember to practice appropriate social distancing requirements and good hygiene. From Friday 29 January 2021, the maximum group size for an outdoor gathering will be increased to 50 people, including children. Groups are still expected to maintain social distancing. If you arrive at a national park or other public space and it is too crowded to practice social distancing, it is your responsibility to leave the area. Do not wait to be instructed by NPWS or police.

The closing of toilets and other facilities will be decided on a case-by-case basis, with necessary site assessments considering the management of health and safety risk to visitors and staff, and available resourcing to maintain facilities.

Access to sanitation products and running water cannot be guaranteed. We recommend bringing hand soap, hand wipes and toilet paper with you to maintain good hygiene as advised by the NSW Government.

For more information regarding closures, call the NPWS contact centre on 1300 072 757, or the NPWS North Western Sydney area office on 02 8448 0400.
