Closed areas: Campground closed due to heavy rainfall
Newnes campground is closed due to expected heavy rain fall from 12pm Thursday 28 November 2024. The area will be assessed and will re-open as soon as it is safe.

Closed areas: Glow Worm Tunnel Road closure
Glow Worm Tunnel Road is closed for roadworks from 7am on Mondays to 5pm on Fridays between Monday 25 November to Friday 20 December 2024. During this period, the road will be open from 5pm on Fridays to 7am on Mondays.
The closure applies at the intersection of Maiyingu Marragu trail (Blackfellows Hand trail) and Glow Worm Tunnel Road, in front of Bungleboori picnic area.
The following areas will not be accessible on weekdays:
- Glow Worm Tunnel
- Newnes Campsite
- Deep Pass Campsite
- Rocky and Twister Canyon
- Other points of interest north of the roadwork.
An alternative 4WD-only access route will be available between Glow Worm Tunnel Road and Maiyingu Marragu trail (Blackfellows Hand trail) will be provided (also providing access to the Lost City from the north). Please drive with caution, follow park signage and adhere to the speed limit.
This closure may be extended and any extension will be posted as soon as possible.

Fire bans: Park fire ban
A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed.
However, the following campgrounds are exempt in Wollemi National Park:
- Coorongooba,
- Ganguddy (Dunns Swamp)
- Wheeny Creek
- Colo Meroo
- Sheepskin Hut.
During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:
- They're under direct control of an adult
- The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
- There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)
If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

Safety alerts: Changed conditions due to forecast heavy rain
Please be aware that creeks and rivers may become impassable, due to forecast heavy rainfall. Canyons will be hazardous.
Extended rainfall increases the risk of road subsidence, landslides, rockfall and treefall. Incidents can occur without notice, but most commonly occur on steep slopes below cliff lines.
Please consider weather when planning activities. Tracks and roads can be closed at short notice.

Closed areas: Road and Trail Closures Due to Heavy Rainfall
The following roads and walking tracks will be closed from 12pm Friday 29th of November due to a forecasted heavy rainfall event,
- Felled Timber Rd Between Claytons Trail and Middle Trail - Abercrombie River NP
- Baal Bone Trail from Junction of National Trail to Moffits Trail- Gardens of Stone SCA
- Pipeline Walking Track from Newnes Campsite to Glen Davis. Wollemi NP
- Glow Worm Tunnel Walking Track. After Glow Worm tunnel to Old Coad Road. Wollemi NP.
Glow Worm Tunnel will remain open however caution is advised when driving and walking in the area.
The above roads and walking tracks will remain closed until further notice.

Closed areas: Bungleboori Area Closed for a Picnic Area upgrade
Bungleboori will be closed to visitors until the end of 2024 for a picnic area upgrade. An alternative visitor parking area is located 800m west of Bungleboori on Maiyingu Marragu Trail (Blackfellows Hand Trail). Signs will be erected to direct visitors to the alternative parking area.
Works at Bungleboori will be include:
- Removal of exotic tees including pine trees (aligned with NPWS weed program)
- Planting of local native species to revegetate the area and provide future shade trees
- Car park including long vehicle and accessible parking
- Toilets including accessible access and stall
- Shelters, including accessible access, to provide shade while trees mature
- Seating with accessible access
- Wayfinding and visitor interpretation signage

Closed areas: Sunnyside Ridge Road closed
Sunnyside Ridge Road is closed due to unsafe conditions. Damaged mining infrastructure poses a risk to park visitors. The road will remain closed until remedial works make the road safe again.
The closure is inclusive of side tracks, The Spanish Steps and Campbells Road. This closure may be extended depending on progress of the works.

Lost City South is closed until December 2024 for construction associated with the Lost City Walking Track.

Safety alerts: Haulage trucks using Old Bells Line of Rd
Haulage trucks are in operation along Old Bells Line of Rd between the park entrance near Chifley Road (Zig Zag Railway) and Clarence Sands during the following times:
• Monday to Friday: 04.00 to 18.00
• Saturday: 04.00 to 13.00
During these times road users are reminded to:
• drive with caution
• adhere to the speed limit of 40 km/hr
• listen for truck movements via UHF-11
