Closed areas: Kembla mountain bike trails closed due to wet weather
The Kembla mountain bike trails are temporarily closed until further notice due to forecast heavy rainfall over the coming days.
We know that riders are excited about the trails, but riding when wet can damage the trails, and lead to costly repairs with prolonged closures. This also impacts the surrounding park, and risks rider safety.
This wet weather closure is a management practice consistent with most mountain bike trail networks, and aims to protect the trails and riders.
We will continue to monitor the trails and reopen them when conditions improve. Please check nswparks.info/illawarra-mtn-bike or Trailforks before visiting, and follow park signs.
With a wet spring and summer expected, riders should be prepared for future closures, which may occur at short notice.
Thank you for helping protect the trails by staying off them when wet, and continuing to ‘ride lightly’.
For safety and to protect the trails, the Kembla mountain bike trails may be closed at short notice in wet and windy weather, for maintenance or park operations.

- Use the boot wash or scrub stations provided – these capture contaminated water or control flow to septic or sewage systems where root rot will die
- Stay on formed tracks
