Closed areas: Barrington Trail South remains closed beyond Junction Pools

The last 5km of Barrington Trail south remains closed to vehicles due to trail conditions following recent wet conditions.  Visitors are still able to access both Little Murray and Junction Pools camping areas.

The following areas of Wollemi National Park remain closed due to the bushfire and/or flood damage and associated hazards:

  • Newnes campground (cricket pitch or eastern side of river - main campground open)
  • Coorongooba campground (due to flooding)
  • Weir-Long Cave walk is closed at junction with Pagoda Rocks walking track (Dunns Swamp)
  • River Gauging station (Dunns Swamp)
  • Bicentennial National trail – Widden to Glen Alice, Glen Alice to Jenolan
  • Glow Worm walking track
  • Deep Pass campground and canyons in Wollemi National Park
  • Newnes Industrial Ruins
  • Wheeny Creek
  • Bob Turners walking track
  • Sheepskin Hut

The following areas of Wollemi National Park are now open:

A park fire ban is in place in this park from Sunday 1 September 2019 and remains in effect until Tuesday 31 March 2020. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, please contact the local park office before using a gas and or electric barbecue or cooker.

The toilet at Deep Pass campground is temporarily closed due to capacity limitations. Planning for a  new toilet  facility is currently underway.

Closed areas: Phytophthora quarantine area - Barrington Tops National Park

Phytophthora is a mould that causes dieback in plants. It has been found on the plateau in Barrington Tops National Park, predominantly on the Watergauge trail between Beean Beean and Black Swamp. The affected area is under quarantine with absolutely no visitor access.

Phytophthora is readily spread by mud carried by walkers' shoes and mountain-bike tyres. There are boot wash stations across the plateau for walkers to use, to ensure their boots 'Start clean, Stay clean'.
