Some areas in Oxley Wild Rivers National Park, Carrai National Park and SCA, Nygiyungbayi Aboriginal Area and Werrikimbe National Park are closed from 6am, Thursday 11 January to 8.00pm, Sunday 14 January 2025 for aerial pest control of feral animals. The closed areas are:

  • Wollomombi campground and picnic facilities
  • Walking tracks at Wollomombi Falls
  • Edgars lookout
  • Halls Peak campground and picnic area
  • East Kunderang homestead
  • Budds Mare lookout and campground
  • Riverside campground and the Budds Mare to Riverside walk
  • Youdales campground

Members of the public are not permitted in these areas during this operation. Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information, contact New England Area National Parks and Wildlife Service office in Armidale on Tel. 6738 9100.

  • Oxley Wild Rivers National Park is always open but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • There are 3 areas in Oxley Wild Rivers National Park where you'll need day use vehicle permits: Halls Peak campground and picnic area, Riverside campground and picnic area, and Youdales Hut campground and picnic area. Day use vehicle permits can be bought online or by calling the National Parks Contact Centre on 1300 072 757. If camping, permit fees are included in the campground fee.
