Closed areas: Coolah Tops National Park partial closure

Coolah Tops National Park is partially open to the public. 

Some visitor areas are closed because:

  • Tree branches are hung up in the tree canopy
  • Trees have fallen over tracks
  • There is extensive road damage to some creek crossings.

NPWS is working with contractors to make the park safe for visitors.

The following areas remain closed to visitors:

  • Norfolk Falls walking track 
  • Norfolk Falls link track - Storm damage to the walking track
  • Norfolk Falls picnic area
  • Norfolk Falls Road - The causeway to the falls is damaged from flooding; maintenance is underway 
  • Bald Hill Fire Trail - creek crossing damaged, waiting for dry conditions to complete restoration works.  
  • Bald Hill Falls - closed because of creek crossing damage and track damage
  • Pine trees campground - Areas closed under the pine trees
  • Bundar Management fire trail  
  • Forest Road beyond the seasonal gate and all other roads east of this gate
  • Grass Trees track cannot be accessed via Barracks campground - track damaged

Forest Road between Coolah Creek Road to the park's entrance is managed and maintained by Warrumbungles Shire Council. Please refer any enquiries concerning this section of the road directly to the council.

  • Coolah Tops National Park is always open but may have to close at times due to poor weather, fire danger or management operations. The eastern end of the park is regularly closed during wet weather due to slippery road conditions.
