Closed areas: Mungo Beach closed to vehicles

4WD beach access within Myall Lakes National Park is currently closed from Tuesday 7 September until Friday 17 September 2021, unless the closure needs to be extended.

The beach is severely eroded from recent high seas, making it unsafe for 4WD access. Staff will monitor the condition regularly and update this alert.

Wallingat National Park is closed from Monday 8 March 2021 until Sunday 31 October 2021 due to road maintenance.

This work is weather dependent and the closure will be reviewed in late August based on progress of the work.

Other planned events: Campground amenity upgrades

The Ruins campground main amenities building will be closed from 19 April 2021 to 30 November 2021 for upgrades.

The Ruins campground will remain open during the construction period, however will operate at a 50 percent capacity. The beachside amenities building will be open providing shower and toilet facilities for campers. Campers may experience construction noise on week days between the hours of 7am to 4pm.

Other planned events: Pest control program

National Parks and Wildlife Services will be undertaking a wild dog trapping program in Myall Lakes National Park from Monday 30 August to Sunday 10 October 2021. The program will be conducted along roads and management trails within the park including:

  • Crawford River Road
  • Nerong Road
  • Cabbage Tree Road
  • Knob Road
  • Boundary Road
  • Red Peppermint management trail
  • Burdekins management trail
  • Boomerang management trail
  • Mount Chapman management trail 
  • Devils Hill management trail
  • Gooch's management trail
  • Apple Tree management trail
  • Gilberts management trail
  • Gorong management trail
  • Rooty Creek management trail
  • Sugarloaf management trail

The program is part of a wider ongoing program in conjunction with Local Land Services, Forestry Corp, Mid Coast Council and private landholders. It is coordinated through the Bulahdelah District Pest Animal Control Group.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected by the program if they enter the park.

Park info

  • in Myall Lakes National Park in the North Coast region
  • Myall Lakes National Park is always open but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • Park entry fees:

    $8 per vehicle per day.

    The park has coin/card operated pay machines at Mungo Brush campground. NPWS staff regularly visit areas to collect day use fees. Day passes are also available from the Manning Great Lakes Area Office, Tea Gardens Visitor Information Centre, Bulahdelah Visitor Information Centre and the Hawks Nest Newsagency.

    Bombah Point ferry fees may also apply (cash payment only).
