Fire bans: Park Fire Ban, Wallingat, Myall Lakes and Tapin Tops National Parks
A park fire ban is in place in this park from midnight Thursday 18th December 2025 and remains in effect until midnight Saturday 28th February 2026, unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:
- They're under direct control of an adult
- The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
- There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)
If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

Multiple roads within Myall Lakes National Park are planned for upgrade under the Infrastructure Betterment Fund Program.
Visitors can expect minor changes to access during the following timeframes (weather permitting):

- Stoney Creek Road: March to April 2026
- Bombah Point Road: Dec 2025 to April 2026
- Yagon Road: March to April 2026
- Mungo Brush Road – Stage 2: July to Oct 2026

Closed areas: Areas closed within Myall National Park due to Bushfire recovery
Some parts of Myall Lake National Park are closed due to post bushfire recovery and potential risk to public safety. The closed areas are:
- Little Nugra Rd
- Nerong Rd
- Boundary Rd
- Jacks Creek Trail
- All areas north of Little Nugra Road and South of Booral Rd
Do not enter the closed areas. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

The following areas in Myall Lakes National Park are temporarily closed due to flood impact.

Closed parks: The Glen Nature Reserve closed due to landslips and flood damage
The Glen Nature Reserve is closed until further notice to allow contractors to undertake landslip remediation. The closure has been put in place for the safety of both visitors and the contractors. The planned works and this closure may be weather dependent.

The only location that is exempt is Ganyamalbaa Campground in Worimi National Park - fires are permitted here (unless Total Fire Ban) within the fire pits only. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

Tomaree National Park beaches are not suitable for swimming due to hazardous surf conditions.

Closed parks: Corrie Island Nature Reserve closed for shorebird nesting season
Corrie Island Nature Reserve is closed from Friday 1 August 2023 to Sunday 31 March 2026 for the protection of beach-nesting shorebirds.
Corrie Island is an important breeding site for endangered little terns and pied oystercatchers. The island is closed to visitors for the duration of the nesting season to reduce disturbance that can cause egg or chick deaths.
During the closure period visitors may not land anywhere on Corrie Island, and only NPWS staff and authorised volunteers are allowed on the island. Pest control activities may be undertaken on the island during this time.

Yacaaba Headland walking track, in southern Myall Lakes National Park at Hawks Nest, is open to a viewing point. Beyond this point the track is closed for visitor safety.
Yacaaba Spit track remains open and people can continue to walk along the beach.
