Closed areas: Bachelor Road closed for maintenance

Bachelor Road on the western side of the Wallingat River is closed until Friday 10 December 2021 for road maintenance. Completion of the work has been delayed by recent wet weather.

The main section of the park on the eastern side of the Wallingat River is open and includes access to the campground, Whoota lookout and boat ramp. Please access the campground off The Lakes Way via Sugar Creek Road and River Road.

Closed areas: Sugar Creek picnic area closed due to flooding

Access to Sugar Creek picnic area, including Coachwood and Cabbage Palm loop walks, is closed due to flooding of the access road.  NPWS will check the water levels daily and reopen the area once the water has stopped flowing over the access causeway. 

Remember, it’s never safe to drive, ride or walk through flood waters. Roads into and throughout the park may also be closed. Check Live Traffic NSW for up-to-date information and contact the local park office. For assistance during severe weather visit the NSW SES website. In life-threatening situations call emergency services on Triple Zero (000).

Closed parks: Worimi Conservation Lands closed

This park is closed to vehicles from Saturday 27 November to Monday 29 November 2021 due to widespread, severe weather and large swells.

Beachfront driving and the recreational vehicle area in Worimi Conservation Lands (Stockton Beach) is closed. You can access Worimi Conservation Lands on foot, however no private vehicles can go past the entry stations.

Barriers and signs are in place. Sea foam has restricted visibility and drop offs, gutters and hazards are not visible.

Road works on Box Beach access road are happening from Monday 22 November to Tuesday 23 November 2021. Expect delays and please obey signs and instructions.

The access road will remain open during this work, and there will be access to Box Beach. However, parking and traffic flow will be interrupted.

East Shoal Bay fire trail is closed for road works from Friday 19 November, with work due to be completed on Tuesday 23 November 2021.

Safety alerts: Notice of 1080 baiting

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an aerial and ground baiting pest management program in this park from Monday 11 October 2021 to Sunday 10 April 2022. 

This program is designed to minimise the impact of foxes on wildlife, especially after the recent bushfires, and to minimise the impact of wild dogs and foxes on neighbouring stock. There will be signs at all baiting locations.

The operation will involve the use of meat baits and meat bait products and CPE (ejectors) containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting locations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Several parks within the Hastings Macleay area are closed due to flood and storm damage. Access and camping is not permitted in closed parks.

These closures are due to widespread flooding and extensive damage to roads, bridges, campgrounds and other park facilities.

These closures are in place until 8am, Friday 31 December 2021. Some parks will remain closed for extended periods.​​​​

The East Shoal Bay fire trail is closed for road works from 7 October 2021.

This management trail is being upgraded for fire vehicle access between Zenith Beach carpark and Box Beach Road.

Closed parks: Reserves closed due to severe weather event

A number of National Parks and Wildlife Service reserves will be closed to vehicles until further notice due to damage from severe weather event. These include:

Closed areas: Walking track closures due to bushfire damage

Five Islands, Duck Holes, and Moor Creek walking tracks remain closed until dangerous tree works are complete, a pedestrian bridge is reinstalled (Five Islands) and tree risk assessment is completed.

Many infrastructure items, including signs and creek crossings, are yet to be reinstalled.
