Other planned events: Khappinghat 1080 wild dog and fox control program

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will conduct a 1080 baiting and trapping program for the control of dogs and foxes in Khappinghat National Park and Khappinghat Nature Reserve. The baiting is expected to occur from Tuesday 3 July to Saturday 1 September 2018 using 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) meat baits and/or meat bait product.

All baiting will be done in accordance with legal requirements under the Pesticides Act 1999. Although not expected, some non-target animals may be affected, particularly domestic dogs. Pet owners must keep their dogs out of the baited area. Domestic dogs are not permitted in this park. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

NPWS suggests that pets and working dogs be restrained to ensure that they don't enter the baiting location during poisoning operations. Muzzle dogs if they're required to work near the baiting location during and after poisoning. The program will be coordinated through Local Land Services (LLS).

Signs will be erected on all legal entrances notifying visitors, neighbors and users of this area that there is a 1080 fox/dog-baiting program underway.

Please contact Michael Thomas (or Ian Tuner) on (02) 6552 4097 to discuss the program.
