NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an aerial baiting program from 12 September to 20 September 2026 in the following reserves:
- Barrington Tops National Park/State Conservation Area
- Towarri National Park / Wingen Maid Nature Reserve / Cedar Brush Nature Reserve
- Wallabadah Nature Reserve
- Woolooma National Park
- Ben Halls Gap Nature Reserve/National Park
- Camerons Gorge Nature Reserve/State Conservation Area
- Curracabundi National Park/State Conservation Area, Bretti Nature Reserve, Mernot Nature Reserve, Watchimbark Nature Reserve, Woko National Park, Monkeycot Nature Reserve, Coneac State Conservation Area, Camels Hump Nature Reserve, Khatambuhl Nature Reserve
- Copeland Tops State Conservation Area
- Berrico Nature Reserve
- The Glen Nature Reserve
The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes and wild dogs.
The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise the impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.
Signs will be placed at authorised entrances to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks and most other NPWS managed land. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Safety alerts: Diamond Head Road - changed conditions and scheduled works
8 September 2026 update:
- Diamond Head Road, from the northern (Dunbogan) entry point to Kylies Beach campground, was graded in mid-July.
- Diamond Head Road, to the south of Kylies Beach campground leading to Coralville Road, was graded in early-August.
- Crowdy Bay Road, between Coralville and Crowdy Head Road, was graded in late-August.
- The next round of grading is anticipated to occur in late November/early December.
Diamond Head, Indian Head, and Kylies Beach campgrounds, and the Diamond Head walking tracks, are currently best accessed using Diamond Head Road from the northern park entry point via Laurieton/Dunbogan to minimise the length of driving on gravel roads.
Crowdy Gap campground is best accessed using Crowdy Bay Road from the southern park entry point via Harrington to minimise the length of driving on gravel roads.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting works to protect wildlife, particularly threatened shorebirds, from the 18th August 2026 to 4th October 2026.
Feral animal control will occur within Khappinghat National Park and Khappinghat Nature Reserve.
Please stay on formed tracks and trails, and don't wander into the bush during the operation period.
A reminder that domestic pets, including dogs, are not permitted in NPWS National Parks managed lands.

Visitors are advised that the fire pits have been removed from Crowdy Gap campground as they were beginning to deteriorate, presenting a safety hazard to users.
Fires are not permitted on the ground. If you choose to have a fire you must bring your own portable fire pit or brazier. Braziers can be hired from Diamond Head campground if required.
Visitors must also bring in their own firewood and be aware of fire regulations and any fire bans in place.
