Closed areas: Lighthouse Road closed

Lighthouse Road in Sea Acres National Park will be closed from Matthew Flinders Drive to Tacking Point Lighthouse from Tuesday 19 June until Monday 30 September 2019. This is because Port Macquarie Hastings Council (PMHC) is upgrading the road. 

This will affect access to Lighthouse Road carpark and Port Macquarie coastal walk. Visitors can access the coastal walk and Tacking Point Lighthouse via Shelley and Miners Beach walking tracks.

This closure may be extended and any extension will be posted as soon as possible. Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information, please call the NPWS Hastings office on 02 6588 5555 or PMHC on 02 6581 8111.

Other planned events: Wild dog and fox baiting program in southern Crowdy Bay National Park

NSW National Parks will be undertaking 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) ground baiting for wild dogs and foxes in the southern section of Crowdy Bay National Park. This program starts on Thursday 23 May and will finish by Wednesday 31 July 2019. It will run next to Harrington, Crowdy Head and Crowdy Bay Beach.

This baiting program is being carried out to reduce the impacts of wild dogs on neighbouring stock. It is also being carried out to reduce the impact of foxes on native wildlife.

Domestic pets, including dogs, are not permitted in national parks or reserves. Neighbours and visitors are reminded that 1080 baits are lethal to domestic pets. In the event of accidental poisoning, seek immediate veterinary assistance.

All baiting areas will have 1080 baiting signs at the access points.

The main viewing platform at Wollomombi Falls visitor area has identified structural deterioration. It will be closed until repairs can be completed and the structure has been certified as safe.
