Safety alerts: Construction works at Boorganna picnic area

Construction works are being undertaken at Boorganna picnic area from Monday 20th February 2023 to approximately Thursday 30th March 2023. Rawson Falls walk will be open during this time however, visitors may experience some noise from machinery and temporary exclusion areas. All signage and safety directives must be adhered to.

Marlo Merrican Road will be closed from the Clairfield Dungay Creek Road and Purchase Road intersection to Cooperabung Range Road from 7:00am Wednesday 8th March 2023 to 5:00pm Wednesday 5th April 2023 for bridge replacement works.

Safety alerts: Detour to Bird Tree Picnic Area

Access to Bird Tree Picnic Area in Middle Brother National Park is currently affected by a landslip on Grey Gum Ridge Road.

Park visitors can access Bird Tree Picnic Area by using Haydons Road off the Pacific Highway, which then joins Stoney Creek Trail and Grey Gum Ridge Road to access the picnic area from the north. There is no access to Bird Tree Picnic Area from Grey Gum Ridge Road south of Bird Tree Picnic Area (towards the towers) due to this land slip.

Cockerawombeeba Road and trail are closed until further notice due to extensive flood damage.

There is no access from Plateau Beech campground south, through to Forbes River Road.

The road will re-open once the Forestry Corporation completes repairs.

Access to Yessabah Nature Reserve is permanently closed to unauthorised personnel. The former quarry area has limestone rock faces that are unstable and prone to rock fall. Other areas of the reserve are geologically unstable.

Closed areas: Areas closed due to weather damage

The following areas are closed from 1 October 2022 due to damage caused by ongoing weather events:

  • Wilsons River Bridge on Hastings Forest Way
  • North Wilson Road
  • Waterfall Walk
  • Botanic Walk

Access to the Banda Banda Aboretum is open however extreme caution should be exercised. The trail becomes very slippery in damp or even misty weather and there is an increased risk of fallen trees blocking the trail. There are limited places to turn around safely if the trail is blocked. Visitors are encouraged to walk in to the Arboretum rather than drive.
