Captain Cook Bicentennial Drive vehicle access to Dooragan National Park is currently closed due to land slips that have occurred following recent storm weather events. Road maintenance is due to be completed by Friday 21 February 2020, 5pm.

Safety alerts: High tides and storm surges

High tides and storm surges have caused significant beach erosion and collapse of the sand dunes. Visitors are advised to take care on the beach and in the water, and to beware of submerged logs and swirling sands. Follow the directions of signage and stay away from the collapsed beach accesses and banks as these areas may become unstable.

Closed areas: Sea Acres Rainforest boardwalk partially closed

Sea Acres Rainforest boardwalk is partially closed from Sunday 9 February to Tuesday 18 February 2020. The closure is due to hazardous tree risk. Most of the boardwalk remains open, allowing out and back access for visitors at a reduced fee (distance is approximately 2km).

If changing weather conditions increase risk to visitors, the open section of the boardwalk may be closed on short notice. Sea Acres Rainforest Centre and the remainder of the park remain open. For further information please call the Sea Acres Rainforest Centre on 02 5534 2770.

  • Gara Gorge and Blue Holes picnic area
  • Wollomombi Falls - The camping and Edgars lookout are the only areas open. The picnic area and walking tracks are closed.

Visitors and residents in the Scotts Head, Gumma Reserve and Nambucca areas should be aware that a 1080 fox baiting program is being conducted in Gaagal Wanggaan National Park. This program will run from Tuesday 6 August 2019 to Satrurday 28 March 2020.

Dogs are not permitted in NSW national parks. Non-target animals may be affected by 1080 baits. Please ensure that dogs are not exposed to the risk of poison baits.

This program is vitally important to the long-term survival of threatened and endangered shorebirds, such as the little tern.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is doing 1080 ground baiting of wild dogs and foxes in Lake Innes Nature Reserve, Lake Innes State Conservation Area, Innes Ruins Historic Site and Queens Lake State Conservation Area.

This baiting program will run from Monday 30 December 2019 to Friday 28 February 2020. It will reduce the impacts of pest animals on wildlife and threatened species in the park after the bushfires.

There will be 1080 baiting signs at the entrance to baiting areas. Don’t touch baits. Some baits may be buried. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Domestic pets, including dogs, are not permitted in national parks or reserves. 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) baits are lethal to domestic dogs and cats. In the event of accidental poisoning, seek immediate veterinary assistance.
