Closed areas: Ocean Rocks walking track

Ocean Rocks walking track in Tomaree National Park is closed due to landslide from Thursday 20 February 2020. Signs will be in place around the closed area.

All main visitor areas, including Tomaree Summit walk, will remain open. You can still access Tomaree Head via Tomaree Summit walk.

  • Dangars Falls
  • Gara Gorge and Blue Holes picnic area
  • Wollomombi Falls - The camping and Edgars lookout are the only areas open. The picnic area and walking tracks are closed.

Bridge assessment work is being undertaken in Wallingat National Park from Monday 17 February until Friday 21 February 2020. As a result of this work there may be some short delays while driving through the park. Please follow the directions of roadwork signs and staff. Closed areas: Barrington trail south remains closed to vehicle access

Barrington trail south remains closed to vehicles due to deteriorating trail conditions following the wet weather. There is no vehicle access to either Little Murray or Junction Pools campgrounds.

Visitors can still access these sites on foot and the rest of the Barrington plateau has also been opened following post fire safety checks.

Closed areas: Most of Talawahl Nature Reserve closed with some roads open

Talawahl Nature Reserve remains closed. The following roads within Talawahl Nature Reserve have been made safe to travel on:

  • Coates Road
  • Breakneck Road
  • Blackbutt Road.

 Visitors must only use these roads as thoroughfares and must not stop in the nature reserve. NPWS is continuing to work on reopening additional public roads within the reserve. Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information, contact the local NPWS office.

Upper Avon Road in Berrico Nature Reserve is currently closed to all vehicles between Berrico Road and Berrico Creek Road. This is due to the failure of an old log culvert. NPWS are working on fixing the problem as soon as possible. However, this is dependent upon resource availability and the weather. Closed areas: Phytophthora quarantine area - Barrington Tops National Park

Phytophthora is a mould that causes dieback in plants. It has been found on the plateau in Barrington Tops National Park, predominantly on the Watergauge trail between Beean Beean and Black Swamp. The affected area is under quarantine with absolutely no visitor access.

Phytophthora is readily spread by mud carried by walkers' shoes and mountain-bike tyres. There are boot wash stations across the plateau for walkers to use, to ensure their boots 'Start clean, Stay clean'.

Safety alerts: No driving on the dunes, except for the Recreational Vehicle Area

Drive only on the waterfront, or in the Recreational Vehicle Area (RVA).

  • All dunes between the Lavis Lane and Anna Bay accesses are closed to driving.
  • The RVA, which is located south of the Lavis Lane access, is open for dune driving.

Tide warning: At high tide, sections of the beach may be impassable, plan your trip to travel at low tide. If the beach front is too narrow to pass safely, retrace your route. Do not attempt to bypass around the dunes. It is recommended you do not drive on the beach 2 hours before and after high tide. Visit the Bureau of Meteorology website for further information
