Closed areas: Ocean Rocks walking track

Ocean Rocks walking track in Tomaree National Park is closed due to landslide from Thursday 20 February 2020. Signs will be in place around the closed area.

All main visitor areas, including Tomaree Summit walk, will remain open. You can still access Tomaree Head via Tomaree Summit walk.

Closed areas: Closed areas due to blue-green algae

A Red Alert for blue-green algae has been issued in the following areas:

  • southern area of Myall Lakes near Bombah Point and Mungo Brush
  • Myall River downstream towards Hawkes Nest

The following areas are closed:

  • Black Oaks picnic area
  • Brambles Green campground
  • Dees Corner campground
  • Engels Reach picnic area
  • Mungo Brush campground
  • Mungo Rainforest walk
  • Mungo walking track
  • Northern Broadwater picnic area
  • Pipers Creek picnic area
  • Tamboi picnic area
  • Tamboi walking track
  • Wells campground
  • White Tree Bay campground

Do not undertake activities where you may come into contact with the water.

Blue-green algae levels will be monitored and the closures will be lifted as soon it is safe to do so.

Closed areas: Most of Myall Lakes National Park closed due to flooding

Most areas in Myall Lakes National Park continue to be severely impacted by flooding. Flood waters entering the Myall Lake system have inundated campgrounds and roads.

Most campgrounds remain closed for an extended period. All roads west of the Pacific Highway remain closed, pending further assessment from NPWS.

Please avoid all waterways due to public health risk and navigational safety issues.

The following campgrounds are open:

  • Banksia Green
  • Stewart and Lloyds
  • Yagon

NPWS is progressively reopening parts of the park as it is safe to do so.

Closed areas: Wreck Beach walking track damaged

Wreck Beach walking track is closed due to heavy rain undermining the walking track causing significant damage to steps and landings. The closure will be in place for an extended period until repairs are undertaken.

Barriers and signage are in place for visitor safety.
