A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

NPWS has put in place a park fire ban for Coolah Tops National Park which remains in effect until the end of March.   • They're under the direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials

The commissioner of the NSW Rural Fire Service may declare a Total Fire Ban for particular areas within NSW or statewide, this can change on a daily basis.

Closed areas: Closed areas

Coolah Tops National Park has experienced above-average rainfall over the past 12 months which has caused delays in finalising works in the park.

The creek crossing on Hildegard Road is too high for 2wd drive vehicles to cross. 

The following areas are also closed due to ongoing wet weather:

  • Norfolk Falls Link track is closed between Bald Hill Falls and Norfolk Falls
  • Bald Hill Road is closed due to a damaged creek crossing. Restoration works will take place when conditions allow.
  • Some campsites have been closed in barracks campground because they are too wet
  • All roads beyond the seasonal gate and forest road are closed because of dangerous trees
  • Grass Trees track entrance via Barracks campground is closed due to track damage
  • Breeza lookout is closed because of dangerous trees 
  • Snow Gums walking track is closed because of dangerous trees and damage to the track
  • Bundella Fire Trail is closed because of dangerous trees 
  • Racecourse Fire Trail is closed because of dangerous trees

Forest Road between Coolah Creek Road and the entrance of Coolah Tops National Park has been heavily affected by rain resulting in damage to sections of the road.

Forest Road is managed and maintained by the Warrumbungles Shire Council. Please refer any inquiries concerning this road directly to the council.
