Safety alerts: 4WD recommended
Adverse weather conditions have caused erosion to some access trails to Werrikimbe NP. Hastings Forest Way remains the best access to Brushy Mountain and Plateau Beech Campgrounds and 4WD vehicles are recommended.
Cockerawombeeba Road is not suitable for 2WD vehicles and access via this road should be avoided.
Visitors should check the depth of waterway crossings before driving vehicles through, particularly at Forbes River crossing on Racecourse Road.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an aerial baiting program from 11th May 2025 to 1st June 2025.
The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.
The program will take place in Barakee National Park, Barrakee State Conservation Area, Biriwal Bulga National Park, Bugan Nature Reserve, Ghin-Doo-Ee National Park, Goonook Nature Reserve, Talawahl Nature Reserve, Tapin Tops National Park and Wallamba Nature Reserve
The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species and to minimise the impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.
Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed parks: National Parks closed due to ex-tropical cyclone Alfred
For safety, some national parks and reserves on the North Coast are closed until end of June 2025 due to damage caused by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. Areas will be opened once inspections, and any necessary works, are completed. Public access roads through parks will not be affected by park closures.

Closed areas: Riverside trail and campground closed for track works
Riverside campground and day-use area will be closed from 2PM Sunday 27 April until 2PM Saturday 31 May 2025 due to major track works on the Riverside Trail.
Vehicle access along the Riverside Trail is strictly prohibited during this time. Penalties apply for non-compliance.
Hike in access to the Apsley River from Budds Mare is still permitted during this time, but facilities at Riverside will remain closed to park visitors.
