Fire bans: Park Fire Bans - Due to Current Conditions

A park fire ban is in place in Selected Day Use and Campgrounds in theses park due to current conditions and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will commence a 1080 ground baiting program on the 6th September to 30th October 2023 on the following reserves:

  • Butterleaf National Park

The operations will use a combination of manufactured and meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs. Signs will be placed at the entry to all the baiting locations. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting locations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Roads closed into Werrikimbe national park

Cockerawombeeba Road and Trail and the southern section of Hastings Forest Way are closed until further notice due to extensive flood damage.

The roads will re-open once the Forestry Corporation completes repairs.

Closed areas: Upper Ebor Falls closed for construction

The Upper Ebor Falls precinct is closed with construction works to be completed over this Summer.

The Lower Ebor Falls picnic area and toilets will remain open, however no views of the Falls will be possible due to barriers required to ensure public safety during platform construction. NPWS appreciates patience and understanding at this time while the work is carried out.

If visitors are seeking certainty with wishing to view the Falls it is recommended to delay visiting until the construction phase is completed with updates appearing on the public website.

Additional public toilets are located on the eastern side of  Waterfall Way at Ebor Sports ground.

Please do not enter construction areas and follow all signage or directions from staff and contractors.

Aerial baiting is scheduled for 21/08/2023 to 25/08/2023

The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.

Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands.   • There are 3 areas in Oxley Wild Rivers National Park where you'll need day use vehicle permits: Halls Peak campground and picnic area, Riverside campground and picnic area, and Youdales Hut campground and picnic area. Day use vehicle permits can be bought online or by calling the National Parks Contact Centre on 1300 072 757. If camping, permit fees are included in the campground fee.
