Access to Kosekai Lookout is currently NOT possible via Hanging Rock Road due to a section of Hanging Rock Road being damaged during March 2021 flooding event. The damaged section of road is managed by Forestry Corporation. Access to the lookout is now only possible in 4WD vehicles from the south via Boat Harbour Road and then turning onto Kosekai Road

Fire bans: Park Fire Bans - Due to Current Conditions
A park fire ban is in place in Selected Day Use and Campgrounds in theses park due to current conditions and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:
- They're under direct control of an adult
- The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
- There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

Safety alerts: Increased traffic due to construction works
Due to construction works being conducted to repair bushfire damaged infrastructure there will be increased traffic on Coachwood Drive at Washpool NP from Monday 4 September until Monday 2 October 2023.
In addition there will be construction activities on Moogem firetrail, so if you are walking on this trail, which includes the Gibraltar Washpool World Heritage Walk, please exercise caution around construction areas, and follow any direction from signage, staff or contractors.

Closed areas: Road closure
Some areas of this park are closed until further notice due to the demolition of a bridge from a past flooding event.
The closed areas include the 4WD access to North Washpool, an area also known as Washpool rest area, entering from Baryulgil onto Collum Collum Road. The bridge is washed away at the junction of Washpool Creek and Collum Collum Road.
Please note:
- Washpool National Park’s 2WD entrance off Gwydir Highway onto Coachwood Drive and Washpool Forest Way is open.
- Bellbird campground, Coombadjha campground and the Granites lookout and picnic areas are accessible.

The area in Kings Plains NP known locally as Ironbark camping area will be closed from Thursday 1 June 2023 until further notice, to allow for works to install facilities so that this area can be used as a formal campground.

Closed areas: Ngambaa Feral Predator Free Area Construction Commenced
Construction has commenced on the Ngambaa Feral Predator-Free Area which has necessitated the closure of roads in the reserve for visitor safety.
Cedar Park picnic area will remain open during this period.
The following roads will be subject to temporary closures over the course of the construction phase:
- Wittigs Road
- parts of Stockyard Creek Road
- Seams Road
- Jacks Road
- Buds Crossing Road
- Sergents Road
Construction works are expected to take 6 to 8 months to complete thirty kilometres of fencing and other works.
Construction works include:
- clearing the fence corridor
- building the fence
- installing bridge and culvert crossings.

Safety alerts: Changed conditions on Spirabo Forest Way
Access to visitor facilities, campgrounds and walking tracks in the south of Washpool NP, accessible from the Gwydir Highway between Glen Innes and Grafton, is open and not impacted by the warning listed below.
NSW Forestry Corporation are conducting operations and access to the northern end of Spirabo Forest Way is closed to traffic traveling in both directions until 1 January 2024, with no access to Washpool NP via Scrub Road out of Tenterfield. Access to the following locations should be via Mount Spirabo Road off the New England Highway at Bolivia, or via Ten Mile Road and Cox's Road at Deepwater:
- Four Bull Hut
- Washpool horse riding trails
- Billyrimba Falls and lookout
- Spirabo Forest Way drive through Capoompeta and Washpool NPs
