Dalmorton campground is closed due to bridge damage sustained in bushfires at the northern end of Chaelundi Road.

Closed areas: Washpool walking track closed for maintenance

Washpool walking track is closed from 7am, Wednesday 6 October until 5pm, Wednesday 3 November 2021 for urgent maintenance works in support of ongoing bushfire recovery efforts in the park.

The short loop Washpool walk remains open during this time.

Between Monday 25 October and Monday 15 November 2021, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a baiting program in Deer Vale Nature Reserve using manufactured or meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs. 

The baiting area will be identifiable by signs.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Road closure

Some areas of this park are closed due to demolition of bridge from past flooding event. This closure applies until further notice. Closed areas include the 4WD access to North Washpool, an area also known as Washpool rest area, entering from Baryulgil onto Collum Collum Road. The bridge is washed away, at the junction of Washpool Creek and Collum Collum Road.

  • Washpool National Park’s 2WD entrance off Gwydir Highway onto Coachwood Drive and Washpool Forest Way is open.
  • Bellbird campground, Coombadjha campground and the Granites lookout and picnic areas are accessible.

Upper Ebor Falls is open, so visitors can enjoy the falls, however the following areas are closed due to damage sustained during bushfires:

  • Escarpment walk from the Upper Ebor Falls to Lower

Access to Chaelundi campground, the Escarpment walk and Misty Creek lookout in Guy Fawkes River National Park is only possible from the southern end of Chaelundi Road at Dundurrabin. Chaelundi Road from the northern end is closed due to bridge damage sustained in bushfires.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a strategic aerial and ground baiting program for the control of wild dogs and foxes.

The operation will involve the use of fresh meat containing Poison 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate). The program will be continuous and ongoing from Monday 23 August 2021 to Friday 19 November 2021 in the following reserves:
