Aerial baiting is scheduled for Monday 29 August to Friday 2 September 2022.

The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.

Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Due to significant rainfall, the following areas are closed from Friday 23 September 2022 due to flooding:

Closed areas: Robinsons Knob Trail - Temporarily Part Closed for Maintenance

Robinsons Knob Trail is temporarily part closed for maintenance between the 14th October – 18th November 2022.

The Temporary Part Closure of Robinsons Knob Trail therefore closes access to Wrights Lookout, Cascades Loop and the Wilderness Walk from the Robinsons Knob Trackhead. However, these tracks can be accessed via the Lyrebird Track Network.

The trails existing bridge infrastructure is degraded and a safety hazard. Two bridges will be replaced with new concrete bridges and road base material will be placed in wet boggy areas to enable  fire fighting vehicles to access the trail.

The baiting area will be identifiable by signs.

Access to Doon Goonge campground is best from the west via Chaelundi Road and then Quartz Road.

It is not possible to access from the east on Chandler Creek trail, due to a major washout on Chandler Creek.

The overnight wilderness walk and Bicentennial National trail require several river crossings. The catchment is currently full and experiencing intermittent flooding. River conditions can change rapidly without warning. Please avoid entering fast flowing rivers and streams.

Yuraygir coastal walk is closed until Sunday 1 January 2023 in the following areas:

  • From Angourie to Shelley Headland. Please note: Shelley Head campground is only accessible from the south at Lake Arragan walking North
  • From Wooli to Red Rock

These areas are closed due to landslips and other damage caused by floods and heavy rainfall. Assessment and repair works are underway but are weather dependent.

This park is closed from Monday 2 May until Thursday 1 December 2022, due to widespread damage following rainfall and flooding in March 2022.

Many creek crossings, roads and trails are closed and impassable due to a severe rainfall/ flooding event.

This park will re-open as soon as it is safe, after assessments and remedial works occur.

The western side of Nymboi-Binderay National Park (west of Nymboida River) is closed until Monday 5 September 2022 due to severe wet weather and road damage. This closure may be extended and any extension will be posted as soon as possible. Repairs will be carried out as conditions dry.

Moonpar Forest Drive is accessible to 4WD vehicles.

Access to Station Creek and Pebbly Beach campgrounds is currently via Bacoongerie Road and McPhillips Road.

Pebbly Beach and Station Creek campgrounds are only accessible by high clearance 4WD vehicles. This includes water crossings which can change quickly depending on local rainfall and tidal conditions.

Access to Pebbly Beach and Station Creek campgrounds is dependent on Clarence Valley Council (CVC) and Forestry Corporation road infrastructure.

Safety alerts: New England Wilderness Walk wet weather warning

The Bellinger River catchment has experienced above average rainfall over the past few months and river levels can rise quickly with rain.  River crossings on the Wilderness Walk become extremely dangerous when river levels rise and walkers may become stranded.

Do not do the walk during periods of high river levels or forecast rainfall.

Check the Bureau of Meteorology for river levels and rainfall before setting off.
