Sections of Sandon Beach north of Sandon River campground in Yuraygir National Park will be periodically closed from 26 August to 18 September 2026 for aerial drone spraying operations.

This program is part of a systematic weed control program targeting Bitou bush throughout Yuraygir National Park. Bitou bush will be sprayed by drone with the herbicide Metsulfuron methyl 600/kg.

The operations are weather dependent. The area may be closed for a period of up to 4 hours. This work will not affect the camping areas.

Please follow all signs and directions of NPWS staff.

Other planned events: 1080 Baiting Operation

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWSO is conducting a ground baiting program in Everlasting Swamp National Park from Tuesday 1st September to Thursday 31st December 2026.

 

The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes. It's designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species.

 

Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program on Rabbit and Dart Islands in Clarence Estuary Nature reserve from 17 August 2026 to 31st December 2026.

The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes. It's designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.

Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
