NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program in Everlasting Swamp National Park and Everlasting Swamp State Conservation Area from 30th July 2022.

The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise the impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.

Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Moonee Creek south bridge (Caravan park to Green Bluff access) closed

Moonee Creek (Sugar Mill Creek) Bridge is closed until further notice, due to damage from coastal erosion.

The bridge crossing provides access:

  • To Reflections Holiday Park
  • From Moonee south to Coffs Coast Regional Park, Green Bluff and Sapphire North.

Reflections Holiday Parks have closed the bridge until further notice, due to an engineering assessment deeming the bridge unsafe for pedestrians.

If you are planning to do the Solitary Islands coastal walk please reroute:

  • West along Moonee Beach Road to the south-west corner of the shopping centre
  • South along new concrete path on eastern side of Pacific Highway
  • South onto southern end of North Solitary Drive
  • East onto North Sapphire Road to the beach access at Beachstone Cafe

Green Bluff is alternatively accessible from the south via Rutile trail, off Ivory Circuit in North Sapphire.

Safety alerts: Pebbly Beach and Station Creek campground access

Access to Station Creek and Pebbly Beach campgrounds is currently via Bacoongerie Road and McPhillips Road.

Pebbly Beach and Station Creek campgrounds are only accessible by high clearance 4WD vehicles. This includes water crossings which can change quickly depending on local rainfall and tidal conditions.

Access to Pebbly Beach and Station Creek campgrounds is dependent on Clarence Valley Council (CVC) and Forestry Corporation road infrastructure.

Nymboida National Park to the west of the Nymboida River, as well as Nymboida River campground on the eastern bank of the Nymboida River, are closed from 2pm Sunday 19 March 2023 until 10am Saturday 25 March 2023, for a pest control operation.

Doon Goonge campground is closed for public safety and is expected to re-open for the Xmas school holidays (ie 20 December 2023).

Other incidents: Female wheelchair-accessible toilets closed

Due to an act of vandalism the female wheelchair-accessible toilets at Dandahra picnic area are closed until further notice.

Signage is in place advising of the closure, and that the male toilets are currently being used in a unisex capacity. Additional toilets within a short drive are located a Mulligans campground and picnic area, Raspberry lookout, and Granite picnic area in Washpool National Park.

Other planned events: Notice of noise from RAAF training operations

If you plan to visit Bundjalung National Park, you may experience loud aircraft noise due to RAAF training operations from the nearby Evans Head air weapons range in the park.

Aircraft activities may be heard and seen over Black Rocks campground and from Jerusalem Creek paddle route and walking track.

Evans Head Air Weapons Range has scheduled a training event on Monday 13 February to Friday 17 February 2023. Noise associated with this training may be heard at Black Rocks Campground during this period.

  • RAAF schedules for the Air Weapons Range in Bundjalung National Park can change at short notice due to weather or other operational considerations.

This park is closed from Monday 2 May 2022 until Friday 30 June 2023, due to widespread damage following rainfall and flooding in March 2022.

Many creek crossings, roads and trails are closed and impassable due to a severe rainfall/ flooding event.

This park will re-open as soon as it is safe, after assessments and remedial works occur.

Mara Creek picnic area and the northern section of Yuraygir coastal walk from Mara Creek to Shelley Beach will be closed from Monday 20 February 2023, to repair damage from a landslip.

The walking track is expected to reopen on Saturday 1 April 2023, pending completion.

These programs are run to protect threatened species identified in the NSW Fox Threat Abatement Plan and Saving our Species programs.

We encourage landholders to participate in control programs on private property. Contact North Coast Local Land Services to discuss and arrange programs. Delays may occur due to unsuitable weather conditions.
