Closed areas: Yuraygir coastal walk partial closure due to landslips

Yuraygir coastal walk is closed until Sunday 1 January 2023 in the following areas:

  • From Angourie to Shelley Headland. Please note: Shelley Head campground is only accessible from the south at Lake Arragan walking North
  • From Wooli to Red Rock

These areas are closed due to landslips and other damage caused by floods and heavy rainfall. Assessment and repair works are underway but are weather dependent.

Closed areas: Wilsons Headland Picnic Area will closed for operations from 10 to 21 October 2022

Wilsons Headland Picnic Area will closed to the public for on maintenance and flood remediation operations from 10 to 21 October 2022. The work will involve the use of helicopters to fly in large gravel bags along the Wilsons Headland walking track and remove the old staircase. The Wilsons Headland Picnic Area is being used as the staging area.

Closed areas: Wilsons Headland walking track - periodic closures

Wilsons Headland walking track will be closed periodically for flood remediation works, beginning the week of Monday 17 October 2022. Wilsons picnic area will be closed from Monday 10 October in preparation for helicopter lifting operations (for approximately one week).

Boorkoom campground will be closed from Sunday 16 October to Saturday 22 October 2022 for refurbishment works. Heavy machinery will be working in the campground during this time.

Safety alerts: Uneven surface proceed with care

Part of Wilsons Headland walking track is diverted due to surface scouring from recent severe weather events.

NPWS engaged geotechnical engineering advice and have diverted the walking track around the hazard.
