Closed areas: Areas closed for aerial feral animal control operation
Some remote areas in Oxley Wild Rivers National Park, Carrai National Park and SCA and Werrikimbe National Park are closed from 6am, Thursday 11 September to 8.00pm, Saturday 13 September 2025 for aerial pest control of feral animals. No picnic areas, campgrounds or hard-roofed accommodation areas will be impacted. The closed areas are marked with signage.

Safety alerts: Road Access to Werrikimbe National Park
Adverse weather conditions have caused damage to access roads to Werrikimbe National Park and some sections are accessible only by 4WD vehicles.
- Hastings Forest Way - Road is open with caution, 4WD only
- Racecourse Road - Road is open with caution, 4WD only
- Cockerawombeeba Road – Road is closed between Forbes Road and North Plateau Road
- Forbes Road –Road is open with caution, 4WD only

- Plateau Beech Campground – Campground is open
Visitors should check the depth of waterway crossings before driving vehicles through, particularly at Forbes River crossing on Racecourse Road.

Other planned events: Closure of Old Grafton Road
Clarence Valley Council are conducting extensive roadworks closing the Old Grafton Road (Old Glen Innes Road) between Mann River Campground and Dalmorton Campground. Mann River Campground is accessible from the Glen Innes (Western) side of the Old Grafton Road, whereas Dalmorton must be accessed from Grafton (Eastern) side. The Dalmorton Tunnel is closed during this time.
Please be aware this closure may add significantly to travel time to and from the campground. At this stage works are scheduled until the end of December 2025.

Closed parks: Park closed for aerial pest control operation
Bulagaranda (Mt Yarrowyck) Aboriginal Area and The Basin Nature Reserve are closed from 6am, Thursday 11 September to 8:00pm, Saturday 13 September 2025 for an aerial pest control operation. The public are not permitted to enter these reserves during this period. Penalties apply for non-compliance. National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will commence a 1080 ground and aerial baiting program on the 25th August 2025 to the 19th October 2025 on the following reserves:

The operations will use meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes. Signs will be placed at the entry to all the baiting locations. Domestic pets are not permitted in NPWS managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting locations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed parks: National parks closed due to impacts of severe weather
Some national parks and reserves in the Hastings Macleay are still closed due to weather impacts.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting ongoing aerial and ground baiting programs. Aerial baiting and ground baiting is scheduled from 8th June 2025 to 8th December 2025. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of Wild dogs and Foxes.

Hastings Macleay Area- The Cells SCA, Cottan-Bimbang NP, Carrai NP and SCA, New England NP, Pee Dee NR, The Castles NR, Werrikimbe NP, Willi Willi NP, Mount Seaview NR.
The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.
