A number of areas are closed while road maintenance is underway. They include:

  • Dangars Gorge precinct, including Dangars Falls picnic area and Dangars Gorge campground - closed Monday 10 May to Wednesday 12 May 2021
  • Apsley Falls precinct, including Apsley Falls picnic area and Apsley Falls campground - closed Wednesday 12 May to Thursday 13 May

Tia Falls and Wollomombi Falls are alternative destinations during this period.

Other incidents: No road access to Barrington Tops National Park from Gloucester

The main access roads to Barrington Tops Plateau from Gloucester are closed until further notice due to storm and flood damage.

Barrington Tops Forest Road (also known as the Scone-Gloucester Road) is closed between Cobark Park and Honeysuckle picnic areas. There is no access from Gloucester to Scone on this road. Campgrounds and visitor precincts located on the plateau may be accessed from the western side via Scone. Road re-open dates are unknown at this stage.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting an ongoing aerial and ground baiting program in this park from Monday 15 March to Tuesday 14 September 2021. The operation will involve the use of meat baits, meat bait products and ejectors containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.

This program is designed to minimise the impact of foxes on wildlife, especially after the recent extensive bushfires, and to minimise the impact of wild dogs and foxes on neighbouring stock.

All baiting locations will be identified by signs. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting locations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed parks: Park closed due to severe weather event

This park is closed due to the severe weather event that included heavy rain, damaging winds and consequential widespread flooding. 

For your safety, please avoid this reserve. NPWS is conducting condition assessments of access roads and visitor precincts to determine the extent of the damage and to rectify safety issues.

This closure will be reviewed weekly, however it is expected some reserves will be impacted for an extended period due to extensive damage.

Several parks in the Hastings-Macleay area are closed due to flood and storm damage.

Camping is not permitted in closed parks.

These closures are due to widespread flooding and extensive damage to roads, campgrounds and other park facilities. Parks will be reopened as soon as they are safe to access. Some parks will remain closed for extended periods.
