Closed areas: Polblue campground closed for camping

Polblue campground will be closed for general camping from 9am Friday 1 November until 2pm Sunday 3 November 2019. This is to facilitate set up and running of the Barrington Tops 50th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday 2 November. 

Alternative camping will be available at:

  • Devils Hole campground and Horse Swamp campground (2WD)
  • Little Murray, Junction Pools and Gummi Falls campgrounds (4WD only)

Polblue Swamp walk will remain open during the weekend as will the Polblue picnic area (day use area) with toilets and gas BBQs.

Closed areas: Tugalow and Thunderbolts trails closed

Tugalow and Thunderbolts trails are closed from Friday 27 September 2019 because of unsafe trail conditions. All visitor areas will remain open. Visitors can access Gummi Falls campground via Bullock Brush trail.

Closed areas: Jacky Barker campground closed

Jacky Barker campground and access trails are closed due to a bushfire until at least Friday 20 September 2019. This closure may be extended and any extension will be posted as soon as possible.

Fire bans: Park fire ban

A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, please contact the local park office before using a gas and or electric barbecue or cooker.

Closed areas: Phytophthora quarantine area - Barrington Tops National Park

Phytophthora is a mould that causes dieback in plants. It has been found on the plateau in Barrington Tops National Park, predominantly on the Watergauge trail between Beean Beean and Black Swamp. The affected area is under quarantine with absolutely no visitor access.

Phytophthora is readily spread by mud carried by walkers' shoes and mountain-bike tyres. There are boot wash stations across the plateau for walkers to use, to ensure their boots 'Start clean, Stay clean'.

From Monday 18 March 2019, NSW National Parks is conducting a 1080 wild dog baiting program in Barrington Tops National Park and Barrington Tops State Conservation Area. The program will continue for 6 months.
