Construction work will be carried out to install a new toilet at Stewart and Lloyds campground from Monday 23 November to approximately Wednesday 16 December 2020, from 7am to 6pm. The campground will remain open, but visitors are advised that some low-level noise will be generated during construction.

Neranie campground has recently been upgraded to improve drainage, parking and campsite access. From Tuesday 10 November 2020, camping is available on Forest sites only. Lake camping sites remain temporarily closed the end of November to allow sites to stabilise and grass to grow.

Safety alerts: Access to Wallingat River campground and picnic area restricted to Sugar Creek Road

Visitors to Wallingat River campground and picnic area are advised to remain on Sugar Creek Road rather than following the Google map directions and turning off onto Link Road. This is due to the current poor condition of Link Road.

Safety alerts: McBrides Beach vehicle access closed and new walking track construction

NPWS is changing access to McBrides Beach at Cape Hawke within Booti Booti National Park. 

The vehicle trail to the beach is severely eroded, and is being temporarily closed to address immediate safety concerns.

NPWS is constructing a new walking track from the Council carpark on Cape Hawke Drive down to McBrides Beach, to provide safe public access to the beach. Construction of the walking track is underway and will be completed by mid-December 2020, subject to weather conditions.

Closed areas: Fingal Island access trail and Point Stephens Lighthouse - closed to vehicles

The Fingal Island access trail and Point Stephens Lighthouse are closed to vehicles.

The sea conditions at the spit are variable, unpredictable and subject to change at short notice. People have drowned attempting to cross the Fingal Spit, and even at low tides the spit can be impacted by fast-moving water.

Closed areas: Ocean Rocks walking track

Ocean Rocks walking track in Tomaree National Park is closed due to landslide from Thursday 20 February 2020. Signs will be in place around the closed area.

All main visitor areas, including Tomaree Summit walk, will remain open. You can still access Tomaree Head via Tomaree Summit walk.

  • in Myall Lakes National Park in the North Coast region
  • Myall Lakes National Park is always open but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • Park entry fees:

    $8 per vehicle per day.

    The park has coin/card operated pay and display machines at Mungo Brush campground. NPWS visitor service officers regularly visit camping areas to collect fees from campers and sell annual passes. Day passes and annual passes also available from the Great Lakes Area Office, Bulahdelah and Tea Gardens Visitor Information Centres, and other local outlets.

    Bombah Point ferry fees may also apply (cash payment only).
