Other planned events: Aerial weed spraying operation

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting aerial weed control operations in the Mann River and Guy Fawkes River corridors from Monday 19 February until Friday 23 February 2024. This work will not impact any visitor areas, but please be aware that helicopters will be operating in the following reserves during this period:

  • Barool NP
  • Nymboida NP and SCA
  • Guy Fawkes River NP

Closed areas: Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive partial closure

Due to ongoing wet conditions Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive will be closed between Peacock Creek Road and Mount Babyl until Saturday 23 March 2024 dependant on actual rainfall and on ground conditions. The road will remain open between Cambridge Plateau picnic area and the Bruxner Highway. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

  • Peacock Creek campground will remain open and can be accessed via Peacock Creek Road, Sextonville Road or Iron Pot Creek Road
  • Cambridge Plateau picnic area and Culmarran Valley Track and Cambridge loop walk will remain open and accessible from the south via the Bruxner Highway
  • Guests wish to access the cabin north of Cambridge Plateau picnic area can do so from the south via the Bruxner Highway
  • Many local roads are still impacted by pot holes and similar damage from recent flooding, all visitors should drive with care and to conditions

Closed areas: Campground and walks in park closed due to urgent roadworks

Due to the requirement for urgent roadworks Mulligans Drive, the access road into the following locations in Gibraltar Range NP will be closed from Monday 19 February until Thursday 22 February:

  • Mulligans campground and picnic area
  • Platypus picnic area
  • Anvil Rock walking track
  • Dandahra Crags walking track
  • Dandahra Falls walking track
  • Gibraltar Forest walking track
  • Junction Spur walking track
  • Murrumbooee Cascades walking track
  • The Needles walking track
  • Tree Fern Forest walking track

Peacock Creek Campground is accessible by 4WD or AWD only until further notice.

Many local roads are still impacted by large pot holes and similar damage from recent flooding, all visitors should drive with care and to conditions.

- Iron Pot Creek Road is suitable for 4WD or AWD only due to the current condition of the crossing at Toonumbar Dam

- Sextonville Road and Peacock Creek Road (western end) are only suitble for 4WD due to deep creek crossing and severe road surface damage

- The north of Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive is currently closed due to hazardous conditions

Safety alerts: Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive - 2WD access north of Cambridge Plateau picnic area in dry weather only

2WD access along Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive north of Cambridge Plateau Picnic Area limited to dry weather only.

The road has sections that can become slimmery and muddy following rain due to erosion and damage caused by flooding in March 2022. Roadworks are scheduled to repair the road by June 2024.

The road may be temporarily closed when extended periods of wet weather or high rinfall totals are forecast. Please drive with care as some local roads leading to the park still have areas of flood damage including pot holes and wash out areas.

 

Note that 2WD access for guests staying at the private cabin north of the picnic area will be able to access the cabin at all times unless the road is formally closed through an additional alert on the website.
